1.9 TDi PD105 to PD130 turbo swap

Featured Replies

Just wanting to know if anyone has swapped their 105 turbo for a 130 item and injectors? Is it plug and play or do I need anything else like boost hoses etc? I know it will need mapping. Also does it matter whether I get a kkk unit or Garrett?

i would also be interested to know as I have read a couple of things whether a 07 pd105 has a smf or dmf? I’ve read some have smf and other dmf. Is there a way to check without having to remove the gearbox?

Sounds like a good project - MK2 1.9 Tdi VRS ??

It’ll stay looking fairly stock, it’s a Fabia 3 so good spec already with climate, full maxidot etc. Want to add a couple of monte bits like rear diffuser, possibly wheels. Need to look at the front end though as the bumper could do with a splitter but not sure if the monte splitter would fit a standard bumper?

Hi buddy, I’ve not started my project yet as I have been sorting other little bits with the car first. I will however, be starting to buy the bits to swap the turbo soon. I will make a project thread for it once I’ve gathered all the bits needed.

Hi matt ,

cheers for your reply , very much appreciated ,I would very interested to hear how you progress your project , please do keep me informed, there will always be something I do not know and love hearing other peoples idea's, with that thought in mind , please find below some mods I did do which yielded  excellent results: be care-full you could blow a motor if you rev to too hard

On a previous car Octavia  1.9TDI BXE DSG  2007   mileage 500 KM+  ex Taxi   Last recorded top end speed 200KPH, before it was retired , went like a cat on fire

I did the following :

1. Removed the catalytic converter and had the chamber welded up in such a way that the weld is not visible, I personally do not believe that CO2 emissions would   be increased, this has allowed for  much smother and faster acceleration  also removed : the internal baffles in the rear muffler

2. blank off ERG valve - to avoid limp mode just hook up another, erg valve- unit, so that the ECU gets the correct vacuum reading- this should fool the ECU

3. Make additional holes in the air box , the back / rear of it approx  35 - 50mm each, two or three off them- do not run the car with the standard filter - it is capable of supplying sufficient airflow for mods up to 200BHP +- this is a cheap alternative to a air induction kit , and it worked very for me.

4. Remove the body which holds the MAS- Mass Air Sensor  and remove the internal  screen - this allows for a much faster air flow

before you do this be careful  :You must remove the sensor  before you hollow out the unit - replace sensor and reinstall the unit

Note : the injectors in a DSG / Auto are , as standard,  the next size up from an engine  with a manual gearbox- just some thing to think about

Hope the above is of some use, like I said , I did , tried it and it yielded good results, I would certainly recommend you address the exhaust Cat while you are changing the turbo unit

Cheers  TJD
