2011 VRS TFSI Smoking issue?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have noticed over recent weeks and since I have serviced the car with all genuine parts the car has started to smoke on idle when car is warm.... Its a bit embarrassing when I'm sat at the traffic lights.

Does anyone else have experience with this issue or know what's needed to do to fix it?

Car is 2011 Octavia FL VRS TFSI DSG currently on 52,000 miles on it.

Regards

Richard

CCZA engine code, isn´t it? How long do you own it, do you know if it uses oil more than is usual? What have been done/exchanged on the last service?

Hello, yes it’s a CCZA I just went and had a look at it now...

i would say yes it is using more oil than normal,

Last service was, plugs, oil filter, oil, sump plug, air filter and pollen filter.

Ive owned it coming up to a year.

Cheers

i would say yes it is using more oil than normal - well, do you know how much oil it take per 621miles?

Last service was, plugs - what condition were the plugs taken from, what mileage has that car?

I am afraid this is another piston ring issue of EA888 family engines, more known on 1.8 CDAA and others, unfortunately 2.0 CCZA and other are the same

Ok I will record the 621 Miles and see how much oil it uses... how much do they say..!?

The car is on 53k.

From what I remember the plugs were ok no issues I recall.

Hmmmm not happy what can be done with regards Skoda and getting them to pay for what repair..!?

Thabks yoy for the info Ray

Review the engine failure threads, especially recent months where there is quite a few posts re failure of scraper rings and rebuilds or new engines required with contributions from @rayx Unfortunately, I'd say if that if the suspected problem is the issue, you will have between 0% and no chance of getting a contribution from Skoda on a 2011 vRS.

If you bought from a dealer (used or Skoda) more recently, you may have some rights up to 6 years (from purchase from them) if your engine fails oil consumption tests but the longer the passage of time since you purchased, the more difficult to prove.

I also have a 2011 CCZA, I don't really use oil. I've just topped up with the remainder of a 5 litre bottle after 6500 miles so about 400ml in that time. And there is a visible leak under the turbo that drips onto the driveshaft that I still have not pinpointed,  so that will likely be what I'm using.   I guess the point I'm making is that significant oil usage is not what ought to be the case.

What oil brand and spec have you used for the service? What is the service history of the vehicle?

There is an outside chance it could be something else.  Picture of plugs after a 1000 miles or so and recorded oil consumption may help pin point.
