Money Super Market

Featured Replies

Does anyone know why moneysupermarket quotes are £100 more expensive with the same insurers? I've checked all the details are correct but every quote is almost exactly £100 more than other comparison sites?

Christ, I hate this run around every year

My advice and it worked wonders for me this time around....

Do the comapre thing, more than one compare site though. Once you've found one with a reasonable price and meets your needs like for like on your last cover, forget clicking through to buy, ring the company direct. I did this infact I always do and secured a better deal with home insurance doing it last year.

This year on car insurance Admiral came in with a good price but (I've never been with them before, I have with most) and I secured an even better deal with them than on the compare site, nearly £60 better off. I also found out they do modified cover so I stuck my MX-5 on a multicar policy with them and got a better deal than a specialist insurer who only deal in modified car cover. Another bonus I added on my home insurance (when due for a bargain deal) Yes all eggs in one basket this time, I know I'll be doing the same next year unless they can give me something reasonable to go with.

I agree we shouldn't have to do this each time, loyalty sucks with them. Each driver will be different though, circimstances, postcode etc just let em know you are doing them a favour by buying a policy with them of through them, haggle, and haggle some more.

Quidco can be worth a look too since they will provide cashback.

But you need to find a deal first really to see if it's worth it.

A PITA all round.

I was booking flights last night and like insurance websites I'm sure these process are now designed to frustrate you into giving in and taking a worse deal.

I've always found that over the same range of insurance companies, for me, the MEERKATS work out cheaper. Strange that, as from memory, most of the online companies have some link to BISL.

FWIW, I find Confused to be the best, usually around £50 cheaper than the meerkats. MSM never really comes up trumps for me, and I won't use the GoCompare out of principle - that annoying operatic *****!

This time I used the compare sites as mentioned above to get an idea of prices. My renewal popped through the door from Admiral this week, 2 cars and home insurance with them. Having read the quotes I didn't like the renewal quoted for the Toledo, so armed with the compare site quotes I gave them a call. No quibble they came close to  the quote I had for the Toledo from the Meerkats, discounted £42 off.

Shouldn't have to do it but for a 5 minute chat I'm happy to pay up my renewal this year.
