just wondering what to do .had ea189 done July 16.car run on Esso. Inc super stuff. all long runs. Total miles 24.000 plus FSH on 2013 plate from new .so 2year warranty is out in July . no issues with running. so do stay as it is? or do black code rollback and or stage1  re map  any thoughts welcome

Buying fuel, servicing and maintaining and driving it might be the best plan.

Or do you want something more from it than you are getting now.

If you want to spend money on remapping then just do that.

Personally I'd be rolling it back, according to comments everywhere else it's a matter of WHEN not if, things start to go wrong. Speak to the guys at Shark Performance, they're very knowledgeable. If you do go for a remap, ensure they roll it back FIRST, then apply the remap, otherwise the fix is still present under the surface.

Your mileage is extremely low for the car's age which suggests a lot of short journeys. This is going to be a problem for your EGR and DPF with or without the EA189 update. It would be useful to find someone competent with VCDS to do a health check on those components: ash loading on the DPF; EGR function, particularly checking the ability of the valve to open through its full range of motion (this can be done through the output tests function in VCDS).

Given that you're under warranty for another 6 months, I'd sit it out. If your DPF or EGR go South in that time you'll get a free replacement and the peace of mind that comes with that.

Once the warranty is up, it's down to whether you're happy with the car's performance or not, and how willing you are to spend money on a rollback/remap. With the mileage you're doing you'll be a long time recovering the cost of a rollback from any potential fuel cost savings.

VW Group have their 24 months guarantee of sorts, 'Trust building measures'.

that does not mean that after 24 months VW Group are just Scot Free of any liability / responsibility, especially with well maintained vehicles that they have gone an put new Engine Management on.

After 24 months of the early adopters and those later being 'fixed' there will be actions against the VW Group if vehicles are failing prematurely,

even if for 2 years they behaved OK.
