Hello, ive been to look at this recently https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2008-58-SKODA-OCTAVIA-2-0-VRS-DSG-CR-TDi-170-FULL-MOT-FSH-IMMACULATE-WOW-PX-SWAP/162871332373?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D69209c248e05486eafe9d7bdd700b193%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D112771710684%26itm%3D162871332373&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Ad561fec3-0a84-11e8-ae95-74dbd1806b18%7Cparentrq%3A667878341610ab605f93facffffdffe8%7Ciid%3A1

given the high mileage, it says it has been fully serviced with cambelt and tensioner in the last 20, 000 miles but has no receipts to prove it. its generally in good nic, the rear spoiler has no lacquer left on it and is pretty much completely matt, and has a strange (to me) light on dash which goes out when foot is on brake, it looks like a picture of a foot in a circle?

i personally think 3k is a more realistic price.... any thoughts please?

Try this for guidance and history check:

For a well cared / looked after car it did not half run often with worn tyres.  Ragged.

(Unbelievable a nail in a tyre got an advisory.)

What is the point of someone advertising Full Service History if they have not recent receipts showing the Service History.

DSG Service receipts would be nice, and the most recent big jobs.

Personelly I'd budget for a cambelt and water pump change for piece of mind

The foot in the circle is a reminder you need to have your foot on the brake to move the DSG lever.  The other comments though as others have referred to are a bit of a concern. You can't trust service history with a verbal assurance from anyone.  I do my own servicing but at least have part receipts with my name and address!  No receipts no service history and maybe no or little servicing, that is the only working assumption.

back right seat .. is that the bonnet catch sitting in the footwell broken off?

driving it around with a crack/damage in the windscreen for a year, tyres constantly worn, this doesn't sound like a car that's been looked after - I wouldn't touch it

no mention of a clutch and flywheel - price that in as a factor

most of the service stamps were from skoda, just the last couple were other garages.  a clutch and flywheel on a auto dsg is going to be expensive i bet.

i drove it, it changed gear very smoothly and had no knocks or anything out of the ordinary, pulled well and brakes were spot on , i was actually surprised tbh.

no rust visible , bonnet catch worked fine, just the paperworks let it down :(

@Skodaniel If you're happy with a TFSI over a TDI, there was a tidy 06 plate one on AutoTrader. 2.0tfsi, manual, same colour. I looked at it before i bought my 08 vrs hatch, somewhat kicking myself now lol, oh well, hindsight.
