Rust...

Featured Replies

Just noticed bubbling paint on the rear drivers side wheel arch of my Superb, a bit early for that isnt it? The car is 2,5 years old without any damage or paintwork done to it. Am I the only one or are others also seeing the first signs of rust?

Go straight back to your supplying dealer.

Unless the wheel arch has been damaged by stone chipping, that has to be a paint defect. Check up on what is covered by your warranty first, but your dealer/Skoda should sort this.

Be sure that is formally logged at the Dealership, and an Inspection arranged by a Qualified Technician or Warranty Manager and if required

they have in a Skoda approved Inspector to assess the corrosion, test the paint and make the report on the action required to get the car to Factory standard,

or actually better, because there is corrosion with the factory standard.

They will have to check there was no damage from the factory, transit or at the Dealership and some repair then,

or since.

Have you got a photo of it?

Pretty poor if it is rust.

I bet it’s a stonechip.

Nope, its barely noticable - saw it when I washed the car and the bubbles reflected against the light. Had to take the car into service anyway so they will take a look at this next week.

There is no visual damage so probably not. It is not on the edge of the arch but on the side of the car.

?

Magnetic brown

Just interested incase there turns out to be an particular colour / paint that proves to have issues.

Surely no Zinc Inclusion issues with Superbs.
