Car Play not Working

Featured Replies

Hi,

Carplay isn't working any more - says scanning USB and then nothing. Tried same thing with 3 different known good cables and 4 different iPhones and get the same result.

Tried a hard reset on the stereo and the phones, no success.

Starting to suspect the USB port.

Anyone else had similar problems?? Wanted to eliminate possibilities before calling in at the dealer with it.

Thanks.

Hi,

If you put some music on a USB memory stick and plug into the USB port, does it play it? That’d at least be another way to see if the USB port isn’t working.

Ivan.

I found this also, however, I found what the issue is...........

The car has to have the ignition lights on, or engine running, with the stereo on. then connect whatever device you are using to the usb lead.

hope this helps

Mine is dropping out (to a blank screen) more than it used to. I wonder if it could be related to a recent iOS update - Carplay seems a bit flaky after certain updates, and more solid after others.

In my case, I've had wider wiring/electrical issues in recent weeks so I worry about internal wiring causing my current Carplay drop-outs, but given its historical flakiness and sensitivity, and the absence of any other obvious electric problems at the moment, I'm erring towards it being an iOS problem.

Lee, there are other threads exploring similar ‘faults’. The cause? Fluff in the USB port disrupting the connection.

Might be worth checking it with something like a pin or cocktail stick (ignition off). Or even using a vacuum crevice tool to suck any fluff out.

Not saying that’s def the cause of your problem, but worth checking.

Tries defluffing the ports to be sure on the phone.

Also tried a USB stick and that worked fine.

Wondering if this is iOS 11.2.5 related, might wait and see what iOS 11.3 brings and then figure out what to do next.

If you plug your phone into a Mac/PC, does it work, e.g. lets you get to photos?

All works well apart from Car Play. Update to iOS 11.2.6 didn’t fix it! :(

Updated to 11.3 Beta 3 and that is not fixing it neither. Wondering if there is a Skoda s/w update for the new versions of iOS or if this is an iOS issue?

Mine seems to have settled down now. Carplay is always a bit flaky from time to time - I blame iOS personally....

If CarPlay isn't working  - i.e. not connecting at all - then this is, IMO, 100% to do with the cable.

I have official Apple cables that will never connect via CarPlay, some that are marginal, and some that just work every time, including one that has significant damage to the sheath and shielding.

Go figure.

Yeah, it's hugely sensitive at every point - from hardware right through to software. That's part of the reason problems are so difficult to troubleshoot.
