Tire Rotation

Featured Replies

I have a Sportline with 19" wheels. I have 5k on the clock and I'm seeing the fronts wearing a bit too much compared with prev my Octy VRS.

I know its a heavier car with a wee bit more torque

Like for like tires from black circles £170 odd each

Can I have Kwik Fit or other tire place rotate my tires?

Do they do that type of thing?

Wot bout tire Presh monitors?

How much does this cost averagely?

Is it worth doing , is it something other drivers would do?

many thanks to the forum in advance

It is simply a matter of recalibrating the pressure monitor when you have swapped the wheels. See your owner's manual. Years ago it was said that if you rotated your wheels often you would eventually end up needing 4 new tyres at the same time rather than 2 sets of 2 at different times. Comes to the same expense really. I have heard that 4x4 vehicles work best when the tread is of a similar length on each tyre.

As an owner of a 280 I totally agree @Robbydazzler.

My Superb has done 7.5K miles now in 11 months, 2 months ago I had the geometry checked, just because I wanted it checked by a company I can trust to use the latest laser system to ensure everything was correct and dandy.

It was slightly out, not that I could feel anything when I was driving it to be honest.  Had all the wheels balanced as well and front to back.  4 wheel drive doesn't wear the fronts the same as others of course but may as well try and wear them all out at the same time.

Even on a front wheel or rear wheel drive car I have always rotated the wheels, prefer to replace all 4 in one go than just the fronts say twice and the rears not at all. Our Octavia 2 FL would still probably be on the original rear tyres at 58K miles if we hadn't rotated them.  After a few years they degrade and crack so best to rotate them and wear them all at the same rate is my opinion.  Also you then have a chance to change to a different manufacturer rather than having miss matched tyres.
