Purchase Incentive/contribution - What will Skoda offer next...?

Featured Replies

Hi all -

Currently Skoda are offering 2 free services and a £1000 fuel card for cars ordered before the end of March.

Does anyone know what they might be offering after this date?  I'm keen on a new Kodiaq - but happy to wait if there is likely to be a better offer at the start of April -

Thanks -

Charlie.

With a current 12-14 week waiting list, it looks like they might not have to offer any incentives.

Hmm.. - That is a possibility I have not considered actually..  thanks.

It just seems that Skoda always have a deal of some sort on - When I bought my last one there was a VAT rate discount off the list price. (Cant remember if it was 20%) -

If you are looking for a deal then www.broadspeed.com have very recently updated their site with the Kodiaq discounts. I purchased my last Skoda through them a decade ago and got a great saving. They are doing 5 grand off an edition spec. I suspect that is better that any incentive Skoda may offer presently. Putting it out there .. the online discounts are improving.

They are projecting £5k off an Edition... but you still have to wait until they've negotiated a deal with the dealer to find out what the price will actually be.

Also, this will include all of the deposit contributions / test-drive allowances / anything else that is currently part of the quarterly offer. Anything that is time-bound (like the test-drive offer usually is) on getting your car registered by the end of the quarter can be ignored unless you (a) order right at the start of the quarter or (b) are lucky enough to find one in stock. This isn't a Broadspeed specific point, by the way - it applies to all these brokers. I am getting mine through Carwow and got a similar sized discount, but it wasn't as cheap as the headline quote (or projection) because the £1k test-drive allowance couldn't be used.

Thanks all - - I've got a deal with 15.5(ish)% off the list price - - plus the additional £1000 fuel card/2services.

I've had a slightly lower quote from 'buyanewcaronline.co.uk'  but think they expect the payment rather than through a dealer - So I think I'll likely stay clear of them.

I'll decide this week once I've test driven 2 alternative cars I have my eye on.

Thanks again.

Charlie.

Use Car Wow I have a deal with them that was 14.7% discount this does include the 2k deposit contribution from Skoda though.

Remember you are getting 2k deposit contribution the fuel card and 2 services as long as you take PCP finance.

All car dealers have quarterly deals and incentives, the ones in Q1 generally seem to be quite generous I assume because start of year may be quiter than rest of the year.

The Q2 incentoves will most likely not be available or publicised until April as this current deal expires on March 31st, the fuel card is a pre pay master card as well and you can spend anywhere.

What car is that discount on? Best I saw with them was 12.9% for my spec.

It was on the TDI 150 4x4 edition and also the same discount on the SEL as well (Kodiaq)

It was a Skoda dealer in Grimsby that was offering the deal, all the rest were between 5 and 12%

Took the deal to local dealer and they matched the deal and threw in a tank of Diesel and mats to sweeten it, I didnt fancy a trip to Grimsby to pick up either

Some good info on this thread, I too was wondering if it would be better to order before the end of March or wait to see what April (Q2) reveals.

As has been pointed out already, the current deal also includes a £2,000 contribution from Skoda UK if you use their finance.

You are allowed to pay the finance off in full immediately after taking delivery so signing up to a PCP is a no-brainer, if for nothing else but to get the £2K off.

£2,000 deposit contribution.

£1,000 pre-paid Mastercard - to be used on any purchases.

2x free services.

I hate not knowing if the April deals will be better than those on offer now, but that's the way it works I guess!

Hi Silver -  I ordered mine today - Took advantage of the £2k and the fuel card.  Planning on paying off PCP straight away too.

I asked the dealer about possible new offers in April. - He promised me that if the deal was better in April, he'd be happy to swap me over to the equivalent deal when the car was ready for collection.

He is very confident the £2k wont increase, and thinks the fuel card may disappear.

The fuel cards have been on and off for about 3 years.  Normally seem to appear about half way through a quarter until the end of the quarter.

Not there every quarter, I guess it depends on orders.  Sometimes the offer is of £500 extra between xx and yy dates format instead (never get both together)

As for the PCP deposit contribution this seems to have increased (across the range) over last 3-4 years, but so has the interest rate.   Occasionally it goes down and a low rate (or 0%) deal exists for that quarter.

From memory the second half of Spring quarter often has best deals (coincides with when everyone is thinking of summer holiday cost, so presumably a leaner time)

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi everyone. I'm tempted as well to place an order for current car. But reading info about Geneva motor show next week, Kodiaq getting a new DSG box, new petrol and diesel engines, digital instrument cluster ... And most likely all these coming in spring/summer, could be with the April price list ... Anyone else read about that and thinking about it, or if you know more? Decisions decisions :D

I was also interested to see the discount of 15.5% Charlie71 mentioned, was that cash or finance??

they showed the sportline and Scout off at the show last year and then was not avaliable until November december.

I see ... well, the show is 8-18 March, current list price is valid until 31 March, so I guess anyone will be able to make a choice, buy now or wait. Hopefully they will reveal clearly when L&K trim and "new generation" engines/DSG will be available

All the press release says is the new Kodiaq L&K will be available with the new 1.5 Tsi and new 2.0Tsi 190 both of which will have particulate filters fitted. These engines will be rolled out to other models in the future. The 7 speed DSG is not new a version, it just means that all models get the 7 speed instead of some having the 6 speed as is currently.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've just placed an order for a Kodiaq today, the whole process was straight forward and hassle free, however one element is niggling at me, the £1,000 free fuel offer.

It is essentially a pre-loaded Mastercard credit card which is issued once the car is delivered / the PCP is set-up. It can be used against any purchases, not just fuel.

However, reading the terms and conditions this part seems a little strange...

How do I qualify?

To qualify you must be a private retail customer and order a new ŠKODA Kodiaq (excluding SE Technology) during the promotional period of 3 January 2018 to 31 March 2018 and take delivery of your new car by 30 June 2018 to be eligible for £1000 free fuel.

I've ordered before the 31st March so all is good in that respect, however my dealer said we're looking at 12-14 weeks lead-time for the car. That takes me right up to the end of June, the date by which Skoda tell me I have to have received the car. If it isn't with me by then then I won't get the fuel card.

The ability to influence the delivery of the car is out of my hands, it's down to Skoda now, so what happens if its delayed?

Seems strange to implement a date by which the car has to be delivered by. I've emailed Skoda UK but it'll be a bit underhand if they turn round at the 11th hour and tell me I can't have the extra £1,000 off.

I hope you have good news on that front - when I asked with the original date I was given, I was told by the dealer that if it was delivered after end June I would miss out on the fuel card.

With luck your date will come forward a bit :)

It seems a little strange.

I've factored it into the overall deal, as far as I'm concerned it forms part of Skoda's contribution / discount.

I'm not sure why they feel the need to implement an end date, surely as long as the car is ordered before the 31st March you can have the card.

I'll be pretty vocal if Skoda try and wriggle out of it :D

Agree, I felt the same way. It’s not an insignificant contribution!

People will be paying £300 more on the First Year VED from the 1st April on a 2.0TDI, unless the dealerships are paying that,

and likely Skoda will be needing to shift New cars before the 1st September and the Real World Test Figures being required.

There should be Purchase Incentives coming, especially on diesels.

Could the 30th June cut off be to prevent people asking their dealer to 'hang on' to the vehicle until September, thus preventing a bottle neck at dealerships in September?

There were a number of people who did a similar thing with Karoqs that they would have  got in January, but they asked for them to be delayed until March.

My vehicle was registered in June, and I took delivery in July. So I had a 'flashy' new plate for about 9 weeks, but as I had a private VRN, I wasn't bothered, but some people really want to let their neighbours know they have a brand new car.

Another factor for the cut off could be, the promotion looks good in adverts, but you just have to see the 'Delivery Delay' thread in the Karoq section to see some people who were expecting delivery within a few weeks are now being given a delivery status of 'TBC' due to production delay issues.

So they advertise it, but they don't have to give it.

Škoda Simply Clever.

Like silver1011, i was counting on the £1000 fuel card to make my Kodiaq a bit sweeter. I spoke before with the customer services of the free fuel website, the lady on the phone said as long as order/purchase is before 31 March, they will have that on their register, and i should get the card even if car is delivered after the end of June

Whilst I agree that it seems a little unfair to impose a time limit on delivery of the car, when you have no control over the lead times for new orders, the terms and conditions are clear, unambiguous and most importantly - you were evidently made aware of them when you placed your order. It's also no secret how long the lead times are for factory orders, so maybe placing your order earlier in the promotion window (it's been on since 3 Jan) would have been wise? You can place an order and ask for delivery on a certain date (last week in June if you like), at which point your car should get built and shipped as normal (12-14 weeks) and then it is sat at the dealer waiting for you.

So no matter how unfair you think the terms and conditions of the promotion are, it's hardly Skoda trying to wriggle out of anything if your car is not delivered by the end of June.

Having said all that - 12-14 weeks is the standard quoted lead time, but the experience of most on here (from the UK and myself included) is that the wait time was more like 10 weeks. And the end of June is still 15.5 weeks away.

Agree with Wiggo here, its been well publicised, hopefully it will come in, I ordered mine on Feb 2nd and the car is in Transit from the factory.  Unless you have ordered a car with an exotic set of additional spec items maybe you will get lucky!!
