Removing rear hatch trim- hatch

Featured Replies

I've got the dreaded faulty rear wiper motor issue and have managed to source a replacement motor.

Fitting looks easy enough but tricky bit looks like removing the trim to get at the motor. Anyone have any experience if this?

Thanks

If it's the same as the estate then there's a Torx that holds the boot closing strap in place, then the rest are those panel trim clips - roughly 6 top and 6 bottom of the tailgate trim.  I bought a trim panel removal kit for about £12 off Amazon that made it a lot easier to remove when I fitted my led number plate lights (as I wanted to strap the resistors to something to stop them being lose and rattling) although in the past I have just pulled off with nothing more than my hands and a bit of force.....removal tool is a lot easier :D

I've not heard about this issue with the Mk 3.

It is a big topic on the Mk2 part of the forum. Usually said to involve screen washer water pipes detaching. My hatch developed it at 10 years old, just before I traded it for my Mk3 Combi, which has the jet in a different, less effective position, but not through the wiper motor.
