Kodiaq L&K

Featured Replies

I would guess that will replace the Edition - aside from the Canton being standard and the L&K badges, the spec looks the same from the little information available in that article.

The Edition was advertised as being to celebrate the launch of the Kodiaq (and same with the Karoq), so it shouldn't be a surprise for it to morph into the usual top-end L&K after 18 months or so.

The problem with the Edition was it wasn’t that high a spec IMO (certainly compared to an L&K), it will be interesting to see what it actually does gain over the Edition.

Interesting to see that outside, they're using the Sportline bumpers with what seems to essentially be a normal Kodiaq apart from the grille and badging. Nice to see the digital instrument cluster. Seats have a different insert design too.

What's it missing, out of interest?

No LED interior lighting, no Canton, no virtual cockpit (but that was almost certainly down to timing, as it is available in other countries already). Apart from those, it has full electric leather seats, most driving aids as standard, etc.

The Karoq Edition has the LED interior lighting and a sunroof, but loses out on only having electric driver's sear (not passenger).

I think they are pretty highly specified, personally.

Going on what the Yeti and then Superb L&K have I would have expected:

Virtual pedal

Heated front and rear seats

ACC

Heated windscreen

Park Assist

 And for me: -

TV.

Vented/climate front seats.

TV? Can you even get that on any Skoda?

I thought the TV had been dropped completely now?

(it was std on my 2015 L&K superb)

The TV has been dropped by Skoda, I added it as I like and use it and got the "hump" :Dwhen they dropped it. Wrote to Skoda UK to ask why, perceived reasoning and received a "we are not doing it anymore" answer.

Never mind L&K I want the Kodiaq coupe that is available in china

Fully colour-coded bumpers make a big difference, without the garishness of the Sportline.

Nor the bigger Wheel which will compromise the ride.

I think the l&k will be the one to replace our Yeti.

Honestly the ride on the 19" wheels are very good. 50 profile tyres. I would like to drive one with 20" to feel the difference.

Yes me too. But, generally less sidewall will mean less compliance.

They dropped the black plastic on the bottom of the doors and front/rear bumper which is hm... Tested my bear in the snow in the past few weeks and if it had paint on those part it would have been scratched.

They fake exhaust are nice from looking them at the pictures but IRL they will probaly be horrible (like the ones on luxury cars where you pay 60k+ euros for plastic fake exhausts), unles they just twist the chrome a bit and leave it vague, so you know it's for style and not actual FAKE EXHAUST like they have (HAVE TO SAY IT AGAIN) on MB's !!!!!!

The full beige interior looks bland, the fabric beige is far better looking (check it up on the configurator on higher trims) where you have a contrast of black and beige that makes the interior more vibrant. This will problably be better looking IRL than these artist depictions.

All in all looks like a smart car, now it only needs a smart price, because I love this car but wouldn't want to pay more than 40k euros for it, better pick a luxury brand than.

The problem is you are not able to get an equivalent car from a premium brand for this money! Trust me, I’ve looked!

Never mind a premium brand, you can't get a petrol 7-seater SUV from anyone for this money!

Fair point! I thought I’d take a look at the Korean brands to see what they were like. I was amazed to find that the quality was much lower and the prices much higher!

On video from Geneva. Last third of the video here.

Best of all worlds imo. Proper painted bumpers, leather over suede inside.

I’ll be ordering one of these once it’s on the system.

The virtual cockpit looks very smart, especially at the point its displaying the Kodiaq advert!

Nice to see no blank buttons under the climate control panel too :D

It'll be too expensive for me though.

Virtual cockpit does look good doesn’t it!

I expect them them to be around 33-35k after the usual discounts and a few options for the 2.0tsi that I want.

Like i said i love my bear, but it's not worth more than 40k€, the main and ONLY REASON for this are the interior door trims and some realy cheap plastics (you get them on the Tiguan/Amarok/T-rock too that's why i would never buy a new VW at the currect prices).

But for that price you get ALOT of car, payed 33k€ for mine:

- 4x4 DSG 2.0 tdi with 140kw/190PS

- Style trim (full LED lights, front and rear parking sensors, automatic dipped beam-LOVE IT, ACC 160km/h, 18" alloy rims, all the safety systems with 9 airbags, blind spot monitor, rear traffic alert,  etc...)

- navigation

- metalic paint

- ful size spare

- electronic boot

- self parking

- 6 years extended warranty

etc

aka alot of bells and whistles.

Once you go to 45k- 55k € you get alot of competition.

Agreed, this is why a lot of motoring journalists recommend the lower spec SE model (United Kingdom) as their 'best buy'.

Even the base models are pretty well specced as standard.

I tried desperately to move away from Skoda, for no other reason than for a change, but Skoda are doing a lot of things right at the moment.

I want a 7-seat, petrol, manual SUV. Until recently no one else did one!

The only other player I'm aware of is VW with their new Tiguan Allspace, but it's the same car as the Kodiaq for more money.

I see Honda have just announced their new petrol-hybrid CR-V with seven seats but Honda's aren't cheap either.

Doesn't look like you can get the 2.0TSi in the SE though.
