Road spray in engine bay

Featured Replies

I cleaned mine 2 weeks a go, so if I remember I’ll check it it this weekend again.

Had same issue on my 280 - good clean up with damp cloth and small paint brushes for the fiddly areas - removed the top cover to improve access - then a coating of ACF50 on all the alloy bits which had already started to show signs of oxidisation .  Will also add additional rubber seals as mentioned in previous posts. Once cleaned it's easier to keep that way with a quick wipe over every time you check levels etc (being a bit OCD that's every weekend for me !!).  Here's the end result....

Great result Boxerdog. Did you use any product  on the plastic trims, or just wipe them down with the damp cloth? I'd like to make sure mine is protected in case spray does start to get in there, but unsure of what will sit well on the hot and oily bits.

Used Autoglym Silicon Free Trim Spray on plastic bits (applied  to duster first and used sparingly ) and a light coating of ACF 50 to the alloy bits (applied with a brush) to prevent oxidisation.  I discovered ACF50 in my Motorcycle days , brilliant corrosion inhibitor.

Does anyone have a guide on where to get the additional seal(s) from to prevent the crud ingress? Also perhaps where they are to be installed?

I'm assuming it's just a standard piece of seal that is bought in metre lengths or so and then is glued(?) to the underside of the bonnet?
