selecting fuel consumption memory

Featured Replies

Recently bought a 2017 Fabia 1.2 TSi SE with MAXIDOT display and multifunction steering wheel.

Am slowly trying to learn the plethora of options, but right now one has me stumped...

According to the manual, there are three memories for average consumption: Since Start, Long Term, and Since Refuel.

The MAXIDOT display always shows the Since Start figure, and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to switch to showing a different memory.

(My previous Fabia had two memories and switced between them with a short press of a button on the underside of the wiper stalk, but this new car has the multifunction steering wheel).

I've tried briefly pressing (and pressing and holding) various buttons, but none seem to offer different memories.

The manual doesn't help. As far as i can make out, it just tells you to select the desired memory without saying how.

Can anyone tell me how to select the desired memory?

Thanks.

Play with the right-hand scroll wheel on the steering wheel. Lots of interesting numbers as you scroll through the memories. If you press the scroll whell, it brings up other menus to scroll through.

If you press the left hand scroll wheel it mutes the stereo until you press it again.

Lots of electrickery to play with on that steering wheel.

can be shown on the Bolero system under  Car and  Driving data.

Then use the arrows to toggle through them.

You can also chose what comes up in the MFD from a menu.

On the Bolero go to  Car then  Settings then  Instrument Cluster.

There are about 14 to chose from.

Green tick means they will show on the MFD.

No green tick means they wont show on the MFD.

Thanks AG Falco

Thanks for the replies. I finally discovered that a brief press on the right hand scroll wheel steps through the memories.

(Previously I had only discovered that pressing it cleared the currently selected value - guess I never released it quickly enough before now).

There still appears to be a shedload of options to try out, but think I'll take a break for now - this old dog can only learn a few tricks at a time.

Can anyone tell me what's the point of knowing average speed on the menu, out of interest?

Probably usefull when going through several milese of road works when cameras check your average speed to see if you were breaking the speed limit Joe

In my experience the odometer is usually pretty accurate being only 1 to 2% out compared to speedometers which can (legally) be up to 10%.

I hired a Kia while in the UK last year and could judge by the speed of other traffic that its speedo was pretty optimistic.

The last thing I wanted to do was get a speeding ticket in a 'foreign' country but also did not want to travel at unnecessarily slow speeds. The car did have an in car GPS but could not find a way to display actual speed.

So I set the cruise control to 70 mph on clear bit of motorway and zeroed the average speed and waited until the displayed average speed settled over a couple of miles and confirmed the actual speed was 63 mph at an indicated 70. I was then comfortable cruising at a near indicated 80 mph when traffic and road signs allowed.

I always find it interesting, albeit somewhat disappointing, to see what a long-term (or since refuel) average speed is.

Mostly urban and I'm lucky to get better than 20 kph, mostly motorway/open highway and a bit of urban and I might break 60 kph average.

The speed limiter is very useful for this. I set it to 53 (which is 50 according to my phone GPS) and just drive without worrying about it.
