Frustrating Boost leaks!!!

Featured Replies

Fabia is driving me crazy!!! Since fitting this front mount I can’t see to get rid of these “Boost leaks” on Boost there’s a hiss/whoosh type sound, I’ve double clamped every joint and triple clamped the ones that I’m not happy with, had the bumper off numerous times times this week but still can’t find them!

one of the issues I have is that the turbo “chatters” when lifting off as the turbo spools, just as it comes on Boost if I lift off it flutters/chatters like it has a cone filter which it doesn’t. Would this be the connection closest to the turbo for the flutter to be heard? It’s driving me insane as it’s not holding Boost, the Boost gauge  drops when on full throttle and doesn’t hold at all and like I said the flutter sound is certainly there, I’ve got a couple of videos but the camera doesn’t seem to back it up! What can I do to find these leaks?

Have a look for damp oil round all the joints from turbo to intake, if it's leaking will show signs of oil, will be fresh if you just swaped intercooler, or a split in one of the hoses.

Or even hole or split in intercooler

If you can't see anything, try logging it with vcds see what it's doing, ie target boost, what it's getting and n75 duty

And maf readings see if anything else is a miss

Or just get down somewhere that dose smoke testing

Think Dyno days in south Leicestershire

Still do it 65 quid

They sort you out

Or some where closer to you

Think 65quid is for health check sorry

Smoke test is less

Around 40 quid, it’s weird cause when I lift off as turbo spools it’s fluttering/chatter like when an open filter is fitted, however I still have the standard air box and filter, on the turbo I’ve used a 90 degree silicone and one of them adaptors, the noise sounds like steam escaping on Boost. If I get a larger diameter reducer am I able to slide that straight onto the turbo and clip it up and not use the Darkside adaptor or will it just pop off?

Also there’s no damp oil around the joints however I have got EGR Delete and Elephant mod so that could be why!

Off topic but id get rid of that elephant mod if i were you. It does nothing but cause higher crankcase pressures than if it were standard vented into intake.
