tire roar

Featured Replies

picked up my 2016 1.8 TSI Superb yesterday

great car all around - except for road noise

over chipseal, the racket was nasty

the suspension's handling of road irregularities wasn't great either

anyone else having the same issue ? suggested solutions ?

cheers

What tyres have you got?  Are they new or worn and are any suffering from saw tooth wear?

I have got a 2016 2.0 TDi running on Continentals and unless on a smooth road the tyre noise is intrusive for a top end car.

Its the UK road surfaces using stone chips...

Driving in Europe on tarmac surfaces is a pleasure...

Have you ever driven on the motorways in Belgium?  I find they're far worse than UK motorways for noise and some horrific potholes, though we seem to be catching up fast with them on the last point.

Is the tyre noise a design fault of the car or is it the modern wide, low profile tyre that produces a lot more noise than the tall, skinny tyres we used to use?

Been through Belgium a few times via Antwerp to Holland and Germany in my superb, not noticed the surfaces that bad though via Antwerp is always 10mph.

My 5 series though was 100% better for sound proofing though
