just a warning to others...

Went to car Tuesday morning - windscreen was frozen. Sprayed it liberally with de-icer, got into car & started engine, put heater on full. Waited a while until the ice started to melt, then flicked on the windscreen wipers to clear the water....

SNAP!

Passenger side wiper arm sheared off about an inch from the spindle :(

Moral: always check the wipers are not still frozen to the windscreen!

I never put the wipers on until all the ice is gone. Any remaining ice will no doubt tear your wiper rubber leaving those annoying thin lines we see when the wipers are on.

A little obvious i'd say...lol

Unlucky also though, would have though the fuse would have gone fist.

The wiper motor on my Felicia needed replacing when I did something similar. :(

There was no visible ice left on the windscreen, just dribbling water. Wiper motor must be pretty powerful, as it broke the metal arm rather than destroying the rubber!
