Dimwert settings for tail light bulb

Featured Replies

Hi sorry to trouble you would you happen to know how I can change the brightness of the lower bulb in the near side rear tail light of my 64 octavia estate. Basically I got someone local to me to  code both rear fog lights for me but now the lower bulb on the near side is at full brightness all the time as soon as I turn the lights on. Obviously this is causing me to get flashed all the time as people think I have my fog lights on. So where should we be looking in the adaptation map and what level should it be set to so it just works as a tail light at the lower wattage and not the full 21watts Many thanks Russ?

OK I think I have sorted it out.

After reading the fantastic guide on here I checked this value Leuchte26NSL LA72-Dimmwert AB 26 and it was set to 127 so I changed it to 100 and all seems OK now so fingers crossed I won't keep getting flashed by cars behind me thinking I have my fog lights on

That's odd, normally 100 and 127 produce the same results.

Glad it's sorted though

It was so bright you couldn't tell the difference between the fog light being on or off. So I followed the guide for turning on both fog lights and the section where it said what the original settings were for one fog light I copied them but it was still really bright so changed the value to 100 from 127 and all seems good now hopefully fingers crossed.

I am sorry of tempted to set the fog lights as extra brake lights but how does this affect it when you need to use the fog lights?

You set a lower dimmwert value for the brake light condition (typically the same as the current brake lights) than the fog light condition (typically maximum).

Forgive me questioning but wouldn't that mean if you had your fog lights on and then put your brakes on the fogs would dim?  That sounds back to front and would be conveying the opposite meaning to following  traffic?

No, the fog light setting has higher priority than the brake light setting so it overrides the lower dimmwert value.
