Accessory fire extinguisher

Featured Replies

Something 'new' for the safety concerned Octavia 2 owner. A bracket that mounts a fire extinguisher under the front edge of the passenger seat. Not fitted one personally as yet but looks quite good. The extinguisher has a pressure gauge built into the handle which is nice.

Part number

GCA 000 001 - Extinguisher - around £30 inc VAT

GCA 600 001 - Bracket - around £5 inc VAT

My car has a storage compartment in that position?.

Ive not noticed the storage compartment before on the Octavia 2 under there, have only been under the seat as thats where they mount the heated seat control unit.

Looks like it does take up the storage box. Plus an extinguisher that small will be about as much use as ****ing on the fire unless it's something really trivial.

I think the safety corcerned Octavia 2 owner, would of already been half way down the road screaming for help. However those wannabe firemen/firewomen would be tackling the blaze! :D

Really depends on how small the fire is. If its just a very small smouldering wouldnt you rather stop it sooner? And there is allways the chance you might be able to help someone else with it. Failing that im sure you could release some road rage with it..lol

I saw a video on Vortex last year of a Golf GTi catching fire after something got a bit hot around his turbo...

Something that could have easilly been sorted with a small extinguisher turned into a raging fireball that consumed most of the car.

I always carry my extinguisher in my glove box, along with my tyre foam.

Have one myself in the Drivers door pocket so in easy reach, and one of those life hammer things.

Carried one ever since my mate was in a crash many years ago and ended up nose down in a ditch with a broken wrist and trapped in his car which then caught fire. He finally escaped when the fire burnt through the seat belt. He then went through the windscreen. He ended up with 60%+ burns and was only saved because like now there was snow and ice on the ground which cooled him until Police & Fire arrived on the scene.

He was on the back country lanes skidded on ice and hit a tree before ending up in the ditch.

Just in case you were interested!

It's the same size as is required in rallying although we also have to have a plumbed in system too. TBH the AFF extinguishers that are used in motorsport are crap so the little skoda effort would probably be more effective.

If anyone is interested in getting a Fire Extinguisher then have a look at www,purplestaionery.co.uk they are offering the Firemaster 1000 1 kg for around £15.00. The normal online price for this is around £29.00 and I have seen one site asking in excess of £40.

It is for class ABC use and came out top in the Auto Express product test.

If you are intending to travel abroad then a Fire Extinguisher is a requirement in some countries apart from being just generally handy.

Where you fit it I have yet to work out, I have an Elegance estate, but to comply with continental law it needs to be easily accessible and operational by the driver.

Has anyone fitted a fire extinguisher under the drivers seat in a 2001 Octavia? ETOS/EKTA shows a bracket that fixes to the seat (Extras 011-10) but doesn't make it clear where and having looked under the seat it's not obvious either (to me at least!)
