Buying a 2010 superb 2.0 tdi -50k miles?

Featured Replies

Hi, thinking of buying a 2010 model that looks great, 50k miles on it with a proven SH but not skoda. Any particular probs that i should be aware of? Anything major needing to be replaced? Thanks

Make sure that the timing belt has been changed - should be done very 4 years on that model so might be getting ready for another one.

Thanks, good advice

On an 8 year old car with such low mileage I'd be concerned about the condition of the DPF, EGR and turbo. I'd be asking some pointed questions about its usage history.

Hi, its been doing around 6k average a year i believe from the mot records. 1 owner

So that's 7 or 8 winters, in addition  to the above I would be having a good look at the general condition of anything under the car or suspension related. Corroded springs etc.

Also the battery may have never been changed so check start up time and if you want to get really in depth use a multimeter.

The question to be asked is how were those miles driven? If the miles were done through infrequent but higher rpm, up to temperature long drives then sweet. BUT if the 6000 per year has been done in 5 minute drives to and from work/school in an urban environment, then Chimaera's warnings above definitely come in to play.

Manual or DSG ?

4x4 ?

Sunroof ?

Estate or twindoor ?

Thanks for the very useful comments, i took the plunge and pick up next week. Main dealer, 1 year warrenty gives me sufficient assurance.

If from main dealer then 100% fixed :(
