Windows closed automaticaly - astonished

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I had an interesting experience last night with my fabia. I have a confort package on my car.

The windows go down and up if I use the key in the door look to activate them. If I open an keep the key in the open position for 2-3 seconds the windows go down as long as I keep the key like that. The other way arround with the closing. Fine, nothing new by now.

Last night I was making a demo about this to another person. I lowered the windows as described above. Without removing the key from the lock I closed the car(short, not intending to raise the windows), but they closed fully. I never saw this on the car before and I knew It would not work, but this means that the computer is somehow programable to do this in case of windows left open while closing of the car.

Please tell me your experience.

My experience with my 2001 Elegance was that the windows stayed down unless I used the key in the door :(

What do you mean?

Please read carefuly what I explained above. The windows came up the full length without keeping the key in the close position while they were raising. It just made a short twist to the lock position (doors-locked) and retuned the key to the neutral upright key position. Still the windows were going up, this is the desired behaviour for me when I will close the car in the summer when the windows are not fully shut. Somehow last night I was able to get that effect. never happened before. I did not reproduce it last night since I was in demo session but I will try it again soon.

:)

3 years ago I was able to reproduce the same behaviour Akebono describes.

I will play a bit today also, trying to reproduce it.

I remember very clearly that once I had the window half open and I closed the car and the window went complete up without keeping the key in the lock.

Closing very short could be the secret? I am sure there is an "undocumented" trick there :)

What do you mean?

Sorry if it wasn't clear - I meant by key in the lock, holding the key in the locking position. :D

Are both of these UK vehicles ?

Mine is bought from Germany. Skoda Fabia (engine code AUB), Comfort/Ambiente, first registration: 11/2001. I have OEM central locking without remote control.

Mine is czeck, but it was bought from romania. Engine code AME but same confort level as rvacaru minus the airconditioning :).

Do they have automatic locking (where the doors lock at around 10kmph)?

Mine not. Automatic locking is disabled.

I have autolocking and unlocking. But this is not the issue i think.

I realise this is not the issue, I asked because it may indicate that non-UK cars are programmed differently to UK Fabias.

In my car autolocking was done later on by vag-com. I do not know if autolocking si default for uk.
