Exhaust Pressure Control Valve 'A' stuck open

Featured Replies

A guy hit my car from the back last night.. bumper has a little crack which is not very obvious to notice.. but I realise my front headlight washer splash as soon as he hit me..I scanned the car though there were no engine light on and found couple of nee fault codes..they are as follows..

    System description: R4 1,6L EDC
    Software number: 04L906021M
    Software version: 5517
    Hardware number: 04L907309B
    Hardware version: H22
    ODX name: EV_ECM16TDI01104L906021M
    ODX version: 002009
    Long coding: 01110012032501090000

    Trouble codes:
U045200 - Invalid Data Received From Restraints Control Module
            Intermittent
P047F00 - Exhaust Pressure Control Valve "A" Stuck Open
            Intermittent

Can someone advise me here please..thanks..

You should look at the time that the codes above were set to see if they were present before you were hit.

However, I dont think either are related to a tap from the rear.

The first error is a communication problem (I assume the restraint control module is used for seatbelt information for StopStart).

The second is a mechanical issue with the value which controls the low pressure EGR.

I can assure you that these fault codes generated after the hit as I ran the test on that day already and there were no fault code...I get the first one every now and then but second one never in my life...

To update the post.. there were flashing Preheating Unit sign on the dash today while driving...and it stayed until i restart the car...then i scanned the car again and got another fault code which was P060600 - ECM/PCM PROCESSOR ...My fuel consumption is extremely high as well.. like 25mpg to 27mpg which was normally 48mpg to 49mpg just up until the hit.

there were some buzzing noises in the cockpits which was really bugging me...i emptied everything..like globe box, sunglass holder..but still there were some annoying noises come up while driving through rough roads or humps...the noise was coming from the sunglass and its surrounding area but i may be wrong...

If I'm not wrong P0606 is an internal ECU Fault (i.e. a fault with the microprocessor, memory or monitoring processor)

If the fault doesnt clear, you will probably need a new ECU.

Either way it is worrying to have this code.

You seem to have several concerns about the car after the bump.

Its probably better to go through your insurance or agree with the other person that they will pay for an official garage to look at it.

Yea, I did handover to insurer to sort everything out.Today car will be taken to the garage...insurer also delivered me a Brand new (Just 8 miles on the clock) BMW X4 XDRIVE 20D M SPORT FEB 2018 1st registered.

I am trying to get use to this beast. This is my first SUV though. Hope they will be able to fix my car..main annoying thing in my car was the buzzing noise in the cockpit...I took everything out of the car and still i  noise was coming from the sunglass compartment area...God knows what happened to it.

Was it a hard jolt from the back?

Because for a small impact from the rear, you seem to have a few problems a long way up the car.

It would suggest that there are some more serious problems from the bump than you previously thought.

it was not a small impact at all. the guy was driving 30mph road and i was in front of him, slowing down to red light. So he didn't stop  and hit me. I am surprised that my bumper hasn't got big damages only little scratches and slightly bend from the middle part of the  top...

There's every chance the chassis is slightly twisted.  In a front or rear impact the car channels the impact force around the chassis and metalwork rather than absorb it in a single place so the sun glasses holder buzzing is an indication that what it's bolted to isn't quite where it used to be.

If they were doing 30 and you took the full impact then I'm surprised the airbags didn't go off.

If you want to screw them there's plenty of ambulance chasers who'll get you extra compensation unless you like not having your car and the inconvienece caused.

If Tony LeVoi can fix it I am not gonna bother to take it further. I am very sound sensitive...So i wouldn't be able to drive the car peacefully if it continues making that buzzing noise.  When the car hit me 30mph my car was also moving but i was slowing down to stop in the red. hence the air bags didn't go off i guess. thanks for the advice...i can now explain to the insurer what may have caused the annoying buzzing noise.

The engineer from the insurance company has just called me and said all the fault codes i was telling them was nothing to do with hit and they are may be servicing issue..but I know there were no fault codes in my car before the hit. he was quite reluctant to give permission to the garage to go ahead with mechanical diagnose. Finally he said he will ask the garage people to look at the printed diagnostic report that i left in the car. What can i do if they don't deal with those fault codes or just simply delete them..and how can i prove that these codes were generated because of the hit.?
