Maxidot car picture flashing boot after locking

Featured Replies

So when I lock the car it has started showing a picture of a car on the maxidot with the boot flashing red. The boot is locked. Does anyone know what this is trying to tell me? I assume there is a fault somewhere but with what?

thanks

Paul

I haven't had a problem with the boot, but others have.  Have you read this thread:-

Yes, saw that one thanks. In my case the boot (manual) does lock, I think it is probably the alarm that thinks there is an issue.

So, to update, I went out round the shops this morning making a couple of stops and by the time I got home it has "fixed" itself, time will tell how whether it is permanent or not.

Some other bits I noticed when it was happening

  • if the lights were in auto mode they stayed on even when the car was locked
  • the alarm led on the door sill wasn't flashing

Do your lights stay on and not go off?  I assume they're staying on with the coming home function and then going off after whatever time lapse you have entered (or was already entered when you bought the car) in settings.

I don't know what year your car is, but the manual for mine says that the alarm is activated 30 seconds after the vehicle is locked, so did you look after it was activated?  I think I read somewhere that if you press the lock button on your key twice, it deactivates the internal sensors ie if you leave a dog or SWMBO in the car, their movements won't activate the alarm.  I think that when you do this, the alarm led on the door doesn't flash.

I'm not 100% sure on these matters, but maybe someone else a bit more technically minded will comment.

So what was happening is

- I'd lock the car with the fob or using kessy - touching the door handle both got the same behaviour

- the doors lock, mirrors fold in

- looking in through the window car picture appears on maxidot with boot flashing red  (not really a very helpful alert as you don't normally look back inside when locking the car and it disappears when you unlock, if I used the fob and not kessy I'd probably never have noticed it)

- leds on the door sills don't flash

- lights (in Auto mode) stayed on, for longer than the normal coming home period - I went and turn them off as I needed to leave the car

I open/closed the boot (manual) a few times and nothing changed.

Hopefully it has fixed itself permanently.

I'm sorry but I can't imagine locking SHMBO in the car.

It was said tongue in cheek - I was going to say mother-in-law, but thought perhaps I shouldn't.

I have actually locked SWMBO in the car a couple of times when I've nipped out for a couple of minutes but she's stayed in the car - it's just a natural reaction when I get out!  I remember doing it to her in France and the alarm started going off and I rushed out of the shop to cancel it and had a good telling off.
