Dpf

Featured Replies

I know this must come up all the time but I’ve just got the car remapped and the DPF is continuously regenerating the light has shown once but I put dpf cleaner through to clean it out, it’s like once you rev it regenerates, could it be a sensor or the dpf itself ? It never showed any other lights or been in limp mode. I also tried the 2000rev 4 th bear trick and it persistent.

What reg and mileage is the car? Where did you get the remap?

Without wishing to be stating the obvious surely this is a matter to take up with whom ever has just remapped your car ?

anyone else touching would almost certainly invalidate any warranty??

Bitta research into the issue ps. The DPF was perfect before remap the chances are it's the G450 Exhaust Pressure Sensor won't know till I get a VCDS on the case.

Did you scan VCDS to see how full your DPF was before the remap? 107k, depending on usage could be towards the lifetime of the DPF hence it may have been fairly full before the remap and it is just coincident that the issue has surface just after the remap.

Was thinking the same, seems ok now weirdly enough but it'll undontly do it again, getting on vcds Tuesday to check anyways. I did put DPF cleaner in and do regular 2000rev journey technique to assist the clean out unfortunately I'd no access to a vcds before had and it's definitely the next thing I'm getting any recommendations on one?

How do you scan with VCDS to get the DPF info??

In VCDS go to the Engine menu's advanced measuring block submenu.

Filter on oil ash and oil ash limit.

If the oil ash volume is near to the limit, than the DPF is near to it's end.

This is the issue with remaps. I had an S3 got that remapped and coil packs blew a few days later.

Bmw 535D got a remap and the DPF got blocked after a few days. Needed new glow plugs and relay box.

essentially all your doing is putting stress on parts that would have gone wrong eventually just with a remap you are quickening that process up.

i don’t think there’s too many issues with getting a remap just expect to have to replace some obvious parts thereafter

how old are your glow plugs?

I agree getting car on vcds Tuesday good run at over 2k revs, no DPF light or regenerating since, the DPF maybe severely clogged in my case, but I did the run and it's grand for now but will inevitably become past the 1st warning, DPF is 10 years old and probably never been cleaned, I'll just have to wait and see. As for the glow plugs they're probably original but I don't drive the car like a hot head the remap was more for the economy factor only time it's driven hard is overtaking, but I've never any bother with glowplugs.

Glowplugs will all be linked to DPF though.

if your glow plugs are old and maybe dut for replacement you’ll find starting the car can sometimes take a second or two longer, the car doesn’t always get up to temp as quick and that means the DPF will not work because the car isn’t getting to the required temperature.

You then also need to consider the EGR, oil temp sensor and other items that all link into the DPF each one has a specific function that all need to work to enable the DPF to clear.

i can never tell when mine is clearing, it feels no different but at 137,000 it’s working absolutely fine clearly.

Will any error codes be present for these or any statistics to know if they are near failure on a vcds? Mine will always let me know when it's regenerating it'll show all the symptoms of regeneration, although on two occasions I did see the coil light flashing at highway speeds but once stopped it didn't appear again. It'll be on the vcds soon just have to pray and hope for the best.

Thank you.

Not sure sorry I have no experience of diagnostics.

I would imagine most would throw up a code even just a glow plug should appear if it’s faulty

Fault found: DPF unsurprisingly, sitting at 55% did a forced regeneration and still regenerating so I'd assume that I need a new DPF.  Anybody recommend a good DPF ? Got quoted 2300 by Skoda not a hope I'm paying that lol found one in eBay at 360£ don't know if it's any good but anybody recommend something better? Will pay more.

One I currently found:

https://m.ebay.ie/itm/AUDI-SEAT-SKODA-VW-2-0-TDi-BMN-BMR-ENGINES-DIESEL-PARTICULATE-FILTER-DPF-/131067970937

Or get deep clean in dungannon to clean it ? I'll probably try this option  ad it's just below 50% currently.
