As per the title, when I select this option it works ok, however after turning the ignition off, that tick option is not saved and therefore you have to always select this again if needed.

 

Is this by design or a bug?

How many times have you tried it? There are some settings (mode etc) that take a few goes - potentially over a few days - before they "remember" you. Also the car "remembers" the key, so if you are swapping keys it will take longer before the change sticks.

Tried many times and the same key.

Sitting here now experimenting and it when you fully lock the car and then re open. The tick mark has not been retained. All other options remember the tick box, as expected.

Odd. Hopefully someone will be along soon with an answer. As a matter of interest what happens when it *isn't* checked? Screen goes off when pulling the key? Mine goes off when I open the door from memory as it's got KESSY.

Yes, screen goes off and if phone connected gives a reminder to take it.

It's a non-persistent feature IME.  I think it's typical across VAG as my previous two cars had the feature and it never persisted across restarts. 

 

Not sure if it can be changed via VCDS. 

its not a bug - sadly tis a design.
