Kodiaq Turning Circle

Featured Replies

I went to our dealer yesterday and while I was waiting I had a look at the cars on display. The Kodiaq's turning circle was described as 12.2m. Considering its short wheelbase, can this be true???

I used to drive a Volvo V70 with a turning circle of 12.2m and every multistorey was a nightmare, a 3-point-turn was more like a 5-point-turn, until I made some modifications to reduce the turning circle. My Superb with a much longer wheelbase has a nice and neat turning circle.

According to parkers:

- Kodiaq has a 2791mm wheelbase and 11m turning circle.

- 2007+ V70 has a 2816mm wheelbase and 11m turning circle.

- 2000+ V70 has a 2755mm wheelbase and 11m turning circle.

- MK3 Superb has a 2841mm wheelbase and 11m turning circle.

The Kodiaq brochure claims 11.6m and the MK3 Superb brochure claims 11.1m if that helps :)

The turning circle is definitely not brilliant, it's noticeably larger than my octavia

Never caused me an issue in a  mutistory though.

It is what it is.  Haven’t found a problem.

I also removed the lock stops from a Volvo S60, but the dealer quietly refitted them at the next service

Parkers must have been wearing the rose tinted glasses.

When the V70 PII was introduced on 15" or 16" it might have had a turning circle of 11.0m, but that changed when fashion started to dictate 225 and 235 section wheels. Volvo introduced different steering lock limiters and also steering stops for the different wheel sizes.Turning circles for a 235 wide tyre to avoid tyre rubbing was about 13m, for the 225 tyres it was 12.2 to 12.5m. Google for turning circle and this is one thing V70 and S60 owners hated.

This comes up for the Kodiaq: https://www.google.co.uk/search?client=firefox-b&dcr=0&biw=1514&bih=733&ei=SVmsWrb1J8zWgAaF1YLoBg&q=Turning+circle+kodiaq&oq=Turning+circle+kodiaq&gs_l=psy-ab.3..33i160k1l2.493844.495288.0.497138.6.6.0.0.0.0.186.590.0j4.4.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..2.4.582...0i22i30k1j33i21k1.0.VWdUUbyhf64
