Enable passenger mirror dip on selecting reverse

Featured Replies

I will give this a go tomorrow if I get chance, not running out in this rain now! Will let you know how it goes :)

figured out if you reverse and stop as would be normal driving while parking in a space, the mirror will not return but if you reverse and then drive at the required speed as described it will return. shame really as the mod works but only in those circumstances which are not ideal.

It didn’t work on my car, but I have an idea that might make it work. I may nip out to the car now and try it, but will deffo try it in the morning :)

Works fine on mine. Although it doesn't dip as much as my mk7 golf used to.

Keep us posted as I’d like mine to dip further than it does already.

Same here

Tried enabling mirror memory for memory seats, but it didn't make a difference, it just doesn't drop very far. Doesn't look like my car is going to play ball sadly

That sucks lol

I expected it tbf, don't mind adjusting the mirror down myself, have only kerbed one wheel in 6 years, so not bad going really. Mind you, that wheel ended up with a 2 inch flat spot and had to be binned so I think I outdid myself there

This may not help as my car is a 2014 Superb but the mirror only drops if the N/S mirror is selected on the mirror control: any other position and it stays as normal. It will also revert to normal if, in the middle of parking, it is switched out of the N/S position.

Also the dipping function is selected in the "Convenience" menu of the driver display.

Mine work's,turned on via obdeleven app,

Mirror doesn't dip very far though.

Well after a few days driving the car I report that it works some of the times but not all of the times.

I've had days when the mirror would go back to its original position (on both moving away or going into parking space) and others that it would stay down and go further down with each parking attempt.

One thing is certain, that you cannot set the angle. It tilts just a bit and that's it, no further adjustment can be made.

I tried it nothing. Set it to L and some reason the right went up once I pressed memory function after I moved the seat for hoovering. So I've given up trying to adjust it. If and when I need to look at wheel I'll just move it down.

More to the annoyance I've just got the missis in with her key and she seems to already have it set plus all radio icons. First time in the car.

Apparently if you can get the mirror motor from a Golf Mk6 with memory motor or an Octavia III with memory seats you can get the memory dip position to work.

  • 1 year later...

I have enabled it in my Octavia (2016) using OBDEleven. I don't have memory seats but it seems to return to original position just fine (I read somewhere that automatically folding mirrors are needed for it to work, which I have).

I have a question though - is it possible to program/code it so that it doesn't require selecting wing mirror using the selector knob? I like to have the knob always on mirror heating option (they stay clean longer this way and don't fog when driving into the underground garage) and I don't like fiddling with it because I don't remember then to switch it back until my mirrors fog when I need them. It would be great to be able to configure them so that the mirror dip functions regardless of selector position or at least for heating selected too.

Here is what the Leon user manual says about this feature (I don't recall these instructions ever being posted in this forum):

Hey Jaco2k,

just wanted to report that it works only partially on my Octavia III 2015 without memory seats. You need to have passengers side selected on controller knob ("R" in my case). It dips the mirror just little bit on reverse gear, but you cant adjust the depth how far it turns and store it for future. If you touch it after it dips, it doesn't go back where it was before, but turns up for just a same little bit as when it dipped on reverse gear.

Hope that makes sense :blush

Anyways if you reverse it dips (lil bit), and the when you go forward it moves back to original position. You can force the "go back to original position" by turning the controller knob to "0" .

Btw I tried to code it with VCDS as found in other thread but with same result.
