Enable passenger mirror dip on selecting reverse

Featured Replies

I've enabled this feature successfully but sometimes the mirror does not return to its original position. Anyone having the same issue?

Works ok for me but you have to go forwards faster than a certain speed to get the mirror to go back to normal position.

Yup, as above.

i thought mine was broke...

How do you enable it?

It’s linked to the seat memories, set it up by adjusting the mirror whilst in reverse, press memory button on seat to store the settings. And of course the mirror has to be selected to passenger side for it to work.

You can activate it on cars that don’t have seat memory, but don’t. It’ll work as the OP describes. Mine doesn’t remember the position as it hasn’t a memory function. It isn’t broken, it’s just one of those things.

I have it on my non memory seat version, the mirror gets progressively lower as time goes on and needs reset manually. Not a big deal as its useful. Overall though its **** programming, my bug ridden beta test of a car Leon FR did the mirror dip with no memory seats and no problem. Guy turned it on with VCDS for me shortly after I picked up my MY16

Oddly enough, I just got a Seat where this works with no problems, from factory, without memory seats.

I was skimming the manual and, although I cannot check it now, there were some instructions on how to calibrate the damn thing - you need to put it in reverse and set the mirror as you want it - I will check later at some point and put on this thread.

Our mk5, Mk6 and Mk7 Golfs came with this function but weirdly no mention of it anywhere in the mk5 owners manual - stumbled across it by accident!

Bought an Ateca last year but this function isn't available. Even tho it has reverse camera, I still prefer the lowering mirror.  Have read it can be software enabled but like above, the mirror never returns to same position.

Octavia has is tho. (has memory seats). Such a brilliant function to have.

Beats me why manufacturers don't make things like this standard - perhaps replacement alloys is a lucrative business? :D

I wonder if further coding is needed to make it work as it should.

I am travelling, so I will check the manual when I get home, but in the Seat manual they mention a specific process to set the memory - it has to do with having the reverse gear selected and then setting the position to which the mirror should go...

As I said, I will get this for you guys as soon as possible.

At least on Seat, it has nothing to do with memory seats.

works for me but doesnt return as above has to be manually set back

Same here, so I don't use it any more.

Here is what the Leon user manual says about this feature (I don't recall these instructions ever being posted in this forum):

Usually only after i have had a car for a while, to see what I am missing.

On this case, this is very similar car to the Octavia, so there was not much to learn.

...pretty much only thing was that you do not need to disengage the e-brake - just drive away and it auto-disengages when you put your foot on the gas ;)

On topic: If someone tries that calibration I posted on this thread, please let me know the results, cause this always bothered me when I had the Octavia - I needed to correct the mirror all the time, since it never returned to same position...

The instruction seems to be for the dipped position rather than returning to normal position.

The problem with VCDS adaptation is that it doesn't return to the correct position. Dipped position slightly off is not too problematic.

Yes, but it might be it doesn't return correctly because there is no memorized dipped position.

So? Did anyone try the Seat instructions? Did it make a difference?

If you have vcds, you can find check what's the controller module you have in the Leon. Maybe it comes with memory function?
