Yeti trade in

Featured Replies

Had a dealer near me phone on Monday asking if i would like to trade my Yeti for a karoq as the 1.2 tsi  Drive are sort after would give me a good deal. so asked the questions and came to £34 cheaper a month. Entry Blue front and rear park censors Build week 18  Hmmmmm

It's what we did. Got a "special invite" from SUK and went down with our 2 yr old yeti 1.2SE DSG. Long story short, should have new Karoq next week.

WOW, thats VERY quick Mike.

When I talked to my dealer a few weeks ago, having had a VIP invitation, it was essentially for cars in stock or that they had already ordered to a standard spec.  This was a deal between the Skoda UK and the dealer both saying they would give a discount?  I could reserve my Skoda UK discount if I wanted to buy later in the year.  BUT, when i asked about a spec with options I was told to expect an up to 40 delivery. I asked about a petrol 4x4 and he said that that might be on the cards for MY19 but expect extended deliveries on that spec especially if I wanted options.  I then said I'd been invited to test drive the new platform Subaru XV 2018 and he looked at me and said "I'd probably do that".  So after 3 Yeti, we await delivery of the new XV.

I looked at the XV too but it was too low and too small.

i also loved the Forrester but Kitten said it looked too much like a farm truck :o

As a matter of interest was it the 2018 version?  That has 220mm of ground clearance and the driving position looked much the same for us, the 8 way electronic adjustable seat and massive range on the steering wheel adjustment giving me a great seat and driving position.

Its all down inevitably to individual needs I guess. Like many we felt somewhat pushed into making a decision as a number of Skoda dealerships were really not that interested in taking the current Yeti into PX and suggested that the car was depreciating at over £300 per month, even though it’s a Euro 6 and will be less than two years old when we get the new car!

Still a design classic / icon.  Loved by enthusiasts, just not bought in very high numbers in 8 years of production.

People seemed to think as Yeti Production stopped the demand would be great and yet Skoda UK Dealers failed to get them all flogged,

and as for the demand for used ones and the low depreciation, that is not just happening.

Seems that there were not enough 1.4TSI brought in or sold in the UK to meet the demand of those as Dealerships could sell those used several times over.

as for the asking prices of 1.2 TSI's and Diesels they will become Much Cheapness and a real bargain as more dealers get real and take for them what they are worth.

Quite a few ex lease and ex Motability models will be heading to the Auctions this year and to Independent Dealers.

Totally agree with this but additionally Skoda also pushed a large number of Yeti onto the market at the end of the production run, as usual, but at massive discounts if you wanted lease deals.  I recall some folks on here getting amazing deals which further depressed the used Yeti market.

Overall I suppose I cannot complain as I got good value PX on my previous two Yeti. However, it was somewhat frustrating that even before we looked seriously into the Karoq we were being advised that there could be no deal because of the long build times.  However, having tested Subaru XV 2018 and played with the electronics we’re not unhappy with the course we’ve chosen.

It was early Jan, so may have been the older model as I do remember the salesman saying there was an updated version due out very shortly.

We just thought that the XV didn't sit particularly high, and we love the extra height the Yeti (and the forthcoming karoq) gives us.

Probably the 2017 version, the 2018 is a very different car.  I’m 5’ 10” and my other half is 5’ 3” and we both felt that the driving position worked for us both.  There is an overall differnece in height to the roof rails but it’s higher from the ground Karoq 170mm (I think) to XV 220mm. The Karoq boot is much bigger.

I think you’ll do very well with the Karoq, it’s a nice car and had the delivery, trade in issues been different we’d probably not looked outside the Skoda range. However, that said, we’re very happy with the XV’s overall package and value for money.  The management team in Subaru UK are pushing hard to reverse the current poor market/sales.

Well the XV will have a MUCH better and more advanced 4x4 system than the Kodiaq or karoq, hope to see some photos when you take delivery.

Very happy to post some pics, I still intend to follow the Yeti/Karoq forums.  I’m on a Subaru XV forum and will post a full review there.

and here too please, as I would LOVE to read it..................unless you post the link instead.

It’s the usual Subaru Permanent Symetrical AWD system 60:40 with active torque control coupled with the standard boxer engine but sitting on the new Global Chassis, stiffer etc.
