Skoda Rapid 2019

Featured Replies

Grab a 1.5 whilst it's offered. SEAT have stopped supplying it in the Ibiza owing to...?

(More profit on every 1.5 Golf is my guess)

Maybe 1.5 TSI wit a DSG,  but be sure to look in the Karoq section of Briskoda if thinking 1.5 TSI with a manual box.

They might not all have issues, how could they or VW would not be getting away for as long as they have ignoring issues owners / driver have been having.

Well some have....

This type of model kind of defeats the whole point of the Rapid - cheap, unassuming and capable transport, much like the Mk I Octavia (which began the whole Skoda renaissance under the auspices of VAG).

Skoda, along with most other main-stream manufacturers, are moving away from this type of "no nonsense" vehicle and their place is been taken by the likes of Dacia, Kia, Hyundai etc.

For the money I paid the 3 Rapid's (well 2 Skoda Rapid's and 1 SEAT Toledo) are good value, efficient and undemanding transport. None of the current Skoda offerings particularly appeal and my current Yeti is actually a better drive than it's immediate replacement (Karoq) - IMO!

I considered a second-hand (1 year old) Octavia MK III, but instead paid less for a brand-new SEAT Toledo (£11995).

Looking back at the numerous Skoda's I've owned (x3 MK I Octavia's, x2 Roomster's, x3 Yeti's, x2 MK II Octavia and x3 Rapid / clones) I only look back with any degree of fondness to the Mk I Octavia's, my current Yeti and the first (1.9 TDi) Roomster.

I happily accept the technological short-comings of the Rapid, due to it's price-point, but find it harder to accept when you consider both the Karoq and Mk III Octavia's are technologically less advanced than there immediate predecessors (multi-link vs torsion beam rear end etc), yet are more costly (and possibly more visually appealing).

Rant over!

Skoda have just had KIA on the phone, they asked for their front grill back.

It's a SEAT Leon then.

Pricing will be absolutely key here.

That front looks awkward. Facelift for 2021 model year already being planned?

I can see that they have taken ideas from the Spaceback sport but Honda did this with the 9th generation Civic which wasn't as attractive as the 8th gen ( I had both) and is more a caricature of the previous model.

It looks like the design team have also looked and Kia, Hyundai, Peugeot etc and come up with something that may appeal to all of those potential buyers but tried too hard. I really can't see Skoda putting that hideous front end on all of the current models when their facelift/replacement time comes.

They'll do anything to keep the money coming in.

They're gradually going to get rid of the 'crystalline ' look and go  mainstream  eventually I think.
