Lambda sensor

Featured Replies

The car ( Scout DSG 64 reg ) is booked in at the dealers for a minor repair, not engine related, and I have been told today that it is to have some work done on the Lambda sensor.

They don't have part in stock due to shortage but will arrange it with me.

Anyone know what it's about? I do know that since the last service in December the economy has dropped by around 5mpg!

Hi Gomez. When I picked up my new 64reg DSG Scout a few weeks back I saw that the dealer had applied 'Action 23w9'. I subsequently found out it was a recall for a batch of faulty Lambda probes which would lead to poor mpg returns.

I posted this on 'general maintenance' forum on 28th March. I've only just seen your post now.

I'm sure its the same thing.

I've been driving a 56reg OctII 4x4 for 9 years but now its 12 yrs old it started to cost a lot to maintain. The new car is amazing. So quiet, comfortable and luxurious and yet the power is there, especially when I knock the shift back into S 'wild' mode. I haven't enjoyed driving like this for a  long while. I'm looking forward to wearing off these sportcontact tyres so I can get wintercontacts then I'll be ready for the snow and ice we get up here in Snowdonia.

Thanks for the reply Hermit, this is probably why the economy has dropped then! I have not  been contacted yet by the dealer, part must be coming by donkey.

Yes the car is very good, I had been looking to change the car but for what I would have to pay to better the Scout I have decided to wait 18 months until the extended warranty runs out and look then. The performance of the DSG Scout would be missed!

I'm no expert but as recent punter the sweet spot maybe when there is two or three months left of the extended warranty so any prospective buyer would know that if they found there was a anything wrong they'd have the new car warranty behind them. My 'new' car still has extended warranty though as its purchased through a Skoda dealership it gets 12 months 'used car' warranty but I don't think thats to the same level. It re-assured me buying this and they've already booked it in to fix a broken rear seat release in the boot (but not the flaky shift release button - fwt).

I wasn't looking for a 184 DSG but there are few Scouts about between £10k and  £15k and this a a very well kept low mileage and sold/maintained by the same dealership which I found re-assuring. Having convinced myself it was worth paying extra for (and the insurance) it has really helped lift the winter blues. I used to have a passion for driving but lost it in recent years but this combination of 184 and DSG is bringing it back.
