Electrical fault/engine won’t run/no dials or lights

Featured Replies

Hi,

went to to use my car yesterday morning  and noticed the screen that displays the mpg etc just had blurred lines, I proceeded to start the car as normal it fired up fine but only ran for a second or 2 didn’t have time to have a look then so left it came back about 45 mins later and the screen was back to normal and the car started fine and ran but no lights or dials working on the instrument cluster, I left it running and plugged in a generic obd2 reader which came up with no faults. After a minute of running all the lights and dials fired back up but the airbag light stayed on, Ive done about 80 miles since the fault occurred and has run perfect anyone have any ideas what this could have been and is it likely to happen again. I was thinking it could be due to water getting in somewhere as I went through a puddle on Tuesday but it wasn’t a really deep one and ran fine after and Wednesday too also all fuses and under bonnet are dry.

Thanks

I had something similar after my Gunson easy bleed leaked and I washed the engine bay really well, next morning dash was completely dead, car ran ok so used an OBD gauge for speed, took about 2 weeks to dry out and return to normal,

Thanks sounds like it could have possibly got wet then, hopefully will be ok now. Did your airbag light stay on?

You will need to find someone with VCDS to clear your airbag warning light.
