Radiator replacement help

Featured Replies

Hi All

Looking like my radiator is leaking as there is some water lying below it and expansion bottle is losing coolant. I need to investigate further though.

I had a search to see about replacing the radiator and it seems that I should be able to take it out from inside the engine bay without removing the front end.

Is this the case and are there any guides on replacing the radiator?

Any recommendations for a replacement radiator?

Cheers

Dave

I had mine done without front bumper etc removal.

I got it frim TPS. Way cheaper than Fabia vRS one I did before it.

Sorry no guides from me please try searching.

Changed mine 2011 fl tdi. Simple enough. All screws are accessible without removing bumper on mine. I found it easier to drop fan unit first and removed the hoses by the push on adapters so you got less sticking out.  Radiator comes upwards if I remember correctly. Bit tight on right hand side around the aircon pipes.

The only guide I could find was a video for a golf.

I need to change the aircon pump too so maybe do that at the same time.

Is it advisable then to have it up on ramps and do from underneath?

Hi All

If I am replacing the radiator, what water hoses should I replace and what are the part numbers?

I did this only last week, was losing coolant regularly.  took fan pack off, and noticed radiator was very wet at the top.

I purchased the hella one along with coolant from Eurocarparts with their usual discount.

The hose connectors can be quite tough to remove.  top wasn't too bad, but struggled with the bottom one.  in the end I disconnected the bottom hose, removed radiator then pulled the connector off - much easier than struggling with it in situ.

Fan pack, and radiator out from the top,

Didn't need to replace any of the hoses.
