Luggage Compartment advice

Featured Replies

Hi all, I'm gradually getting used to my Scout which I love driving.

However I'm still finding features that baffle me.

I'm sure that the explanation is in the handbook somewhere but I'd be grateful if somebody can let me know what the item in the photo is for and how it works please.

I've got the boot floor in the lower position and both of these items seem to be "sprung out".

Cheers,

John

They are the side supports for the variable floor. When the floor is up, these side parts hold it. As you pull the floor up, they spring back in then release when the floor is clear of them :)

Hi Sasha,

Thanks for that!

As I've always got so much stuff in the back of the car I haven't bothered to raise the floor to the upper position yet.

Another mystery solved!

Cheers,

John

It’s ok, I retrofitted the variable floor to my car to make it more useful. It’s been much more helpful than I thought and well worth the 2 days of figuring out how it works. I have dismantled every bit of it now and understand fully Howe ot works. Brilliant design when you consider it, which I hadn’t fully until I installed it.

I like most things about the Scout and I think it's one of the best car I've ever owned in nearly 50 years of driving and (last count) having owned around 50 vehickes of all types and sizes.

The only thing that's a slight niggle is the fact that you can't turn off the stop/start as a default.

If I forget to turn it off on a journey and it cuts in I still find it very disconcerting and press the off button immediately! Lol

Stop/start can be coded to stay off permanently via VCDS, just in case you weren't aware. :)
