Could be never thought about that, but handy on the wife's Karoq SEL as standard equipment as well as her reversing camera, so no more parking excuses in either car. My extremes still unkerbed now where is the nearest piece of wood!:o

Does the 230 get front assist as standard ?   I know when we got our new Qashqai it dropped our insurance with this feature.

Not sure hopefully a 230 owner will respond to that question?

No, it doesn't the only assist we have is lane assist. I would have liked to have had 'Alloy wheel kittens protection assist' yesterday when i hit the OSR wheel repeatedly against a curb on a car park in ramp, but i don't think that's even a cost option!

I like how that corrected what i typed to 'kittens!

I hate multi-storey car parks with ramps and kerbs, real wheel killers!

I hated myself for doing it, I blame the sunshine and dark sunglasses driving into an unlit tunnel! I could barely see to park! (Prescription sunglasses, so couldn't just take them off - Well I could but then I'd DEFINITELY HIT SOMETHING!!)

No.

245 has front and rear

Front assist used to be called 'eyes' and came fitted to the driver as standard. All these gadget just help hide poor driving (<<<<<and THAT opinion is why i hate myself for screwing up my wheel!)

Fair point well made and I probably wouldn't have paid extra, but having had parking sensors I'm now a fan.

Only downside is I can no longer use my towbar as a rear parking protector

Yeah, don’t get me wrong, we’ve got front and rear on the vRS and I fitted a camera to my 86 (but mainly because I’m a geek who can’t stop fiddling). But there come a point where people forget these are actually simply to help and you should be able to drive without them. We were lent and L&K Octavia for the day a while back and it just beeped constantly because we were next to stuff in traffic.

Even when sensors go full red alert you’ve still got about a mile behind you, so after a while you’d just end up ignoring them

Can't you adjust the full red alert distance? Mine seem about right.

Beeping in traffic is annoying but you can turn it off.

To be honest parking sensors don't bother me as much as people slavishly following their sat navs/Google Maps. The number of people that think "keep right" at motorway junctions means occupy the outside lane is far more worrying than using parking sensors.

Has anyone had second thoughts buying the VRS 245 - and had wished to use the same money to buy a lower powered but more 'luxurious' car with fancier features or interior?

I've not owned a car with more that 150 horsepower and been happy with their 'performance' (or lack) so I can't imagine being behind a wheel of one with 245 and all the unusable power driving in a small city like here.

Clear NO on that front, love the interior quality and look/feel of my car. I never go into built-up areas but could see that having over 150bhp in a large city like London would be a complete waste of time unless you were trying to impress someone.

No! :)

I love my 245. I can't think of any other car I'd realistically rather have. Obviously, if you gave me the keys to an Aston Martin Vantage, I wouldn't say no...

...but within a similar class of car (eg. VW, Ford, even Audi & BMW) - no way!

The commute from home to work is about 45 mins with light traffic... driving a puny 1.0 Astra back and forth has become a bit of a draggggggg.....

Snap. 45-90minute commute for me depending on traffic. Was sick and tired of the diesel Astra. This DSG should make life a while lot easier too...

Very nice. Second best colour for the estate!
