LED number plate lights for FL estate

Featured Replies

Has anyone managed to successfully install these on a Superb FL combi? I've found a few threads for the Octy iii bit nothing specifically for this... any ideas/guides much appreciated

Hi!

I have installed OEM LED number plate lights on my 2014 FL Estate. The part number is 3AF943021A and they are made by Hella = good quality and good light distribution.

Fitting is simple - just replace the old lights. You have to turn off the faulty bulb warning with VCDS (or other tool of choice) as there are no load resistors in these.

Bought the pair of them from Ebay for £18 I think.

Thanks very much for that info! So you have any idea of the VCDS coding for this on the mk2 superb?

Disclaimer - don't get mad at me if this ruins your car, it worked on my car, I can't guarantee it will work on your car.

According to my notes I set bit 7 (to 1) in byte 17 in 09 Central Electronics module. Help text was "License Plate Light w/o Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) [LED Light]"

This was in an older version of VCDS. Help text might have changed in newer versions.

You can try this without buying the LED lights - set code and disconnect one of the old lights - if there is no bulb warning it should work with the LED light.

Good luck!

I installed LED number plate lights on my 2015 FL combi.

Part numbers as per attached pics.

Coded using VCDS

I bought the same kit as Jonny5ive. I didn't have a picture of the original package so I read the part number on the light. I guess Skoda put their own part number on the VW light?

@Joakim @Jonny5ive

Coded and fitted today, working with no fault codes so I'm a happy boy!

One question, which orientation do you have them fitted? Is there a wrong way? I have them with the part number text the right way up when looking straight at them with the boot lid up.

Looking good. A nice set of pressed plates and a de-badge to finish off nicely

I couldn't never debadge and even a pressed plate makes my 'oem ocd' go a bit funny

The LED lights were a big enough step :D

The pressed plates are not completely out of the question though, they do look good.

I cant decide if you are being funny or just mis typed?

couldn't never...does that mean you did?

Gah predictive text. 'Couldn't ever' it should have read. It's just too far removed from the original look of the car for my taste
