Hi guys, I've noticed a very strange sound whilst driving.  It doesnt happen all the time but when it does it gets louder and faster when I press the accelerator.  It sounds like its coming from the glove box area, although not from the actual glove box, but to my ears that's where it's coming from (possibly behind the glove box in the engine bay)  The sound is what sounds like a weird whirring sound, much like a spinning fan or turbo.  At first I thought it was the air coming through the heater but its not.

 

The noise doesnt affect the car or drive in any way but is quite annoying.  Any ideas???

What if you pop the hood and someone will rev it ?

could be the air con pump if it is a metallic whiring sound

Could it be the DMF as that's the kind of buzzing that resonated around the same area on my Octy 1.9 when mine was gone, only happened when accelerating though and at a certain speed
