Upgrading Tyres ....advice needed

Featured Replies

Guys, it's time for me to upgrade my tyres. last year this time around, I put 4new budget tyres (Chinese make)  in my car, costed £180. i drove around 20k, two of them still there and two of them has been replaced couple of weeks ago. front wheels need tracking as tyres seem wearing out OUTSIDE.

Anyways, I've been searching for the best deal and got couple of deals. by the way, my tyres spec is 225/45R17

1st deal Pirelli Cinturato P7  225/45R17 PIR P7 CINT K1 91W : £77 each  incuding fitting  E B 71db (energy, wet grip, noise)

2nd one is EfficientGrip Performance  225/45R17 GDYR EFFGRIPPER 94W XL: £83 each incuding fitting  B A 69db (energy, wet grip, noise)

will get £40 eshopping voucher as well

Which one do you think most worth. I have noticed that some of the tyres fuel efficiency, wet grip and noise level are higher than these tyres but price is also Higher.. like £100 each of them.

So what should i consider while buying the tyres?

GY EGP.    These are great all round tyres and are better in every respect in comparison to the P7's, IME.   I actually prefer the EGP over the GY Eagle Asymmetric's.

I've had 3 sets of the Goodyears and would have them again if they were available in 19".  I got rid of the P7's with 4-5mm on the front and 6mm on the rear, that's how underwhelming I found them.

what about Sport BluResponse  225/45R17 DNLP BLURESP 94W XL.  they are £83each BA69db to.

On tyre reviews.co.uk that Goodyear scores 82% the Dunlop 76% Pirelli 75%

The Goodyear is the most modern design too.

Continental PremiumContact 6 scores 88% around the same price.

my vote is for pilot sport 4's, they last well and provide good grip, mine are about 14k in and still look good, with a rotation I expect to get another 10k out of them

Of those nominated, I'd have the Goodyear too.

Pirelli usually prop up the "brand name" end of the tyre test tables, and my experience of Dunlop is universally that they offer neither good grip nor good life.

How much are they and would they be worth over goodyear?

Im getting a pair of the Efficient Grips after much deliberation. Was between those or the Dunlops, same a side yourself.

Currently have 3 different tyres on my car... One of which Is a pair... Both on the same side!

Where did you manage to get the voucher from by the way? Was just about to order them through black circles, but if I can get some more money off then all the better...
