UNDERRATED ROOMSTER

Interesting Robjons comments in another thread

However, if I were to buy another Roomster I would choose Scout over SE any day.  I thought it a much nicer car.t

Scout seats were slightly firmer, which for me were considerably more comfortable.

And I preferred the look of the Scout, with its black panels and foglamps.

Much as I love my Yeti, I would swap it in a heartbeat for a brand new Roomster Scout.

I consider my Roomster Scout the best car I have ever owned.

There has been a few comments in Car Mechanics recently saying what an underrated car it is.And we Roomster owners (or at least I do) tend to think the Yeti as being much car better due to all the awards that its won.Mind you Im happy with its small size when parking in what seems every smaller parking places. Also when I take a neighbor to hospital ,on a routine basis and encounter the tight radius of the underground car park entrance. again it makes my thankful for a small car

After a year of ownership 15 plate se

I swapped to a.new fabia

Kind of regretted it and missed it since

Only thing that spoiled the roomster was it's older tech as I do like my gadgets

I went in to buy a Yeti and came out buying a Roomster.

I'm just coming up to owning my Roomster for 10yrs now. I was at first, when the Yeti came out just after buying it, disappointed. Not for long though after seeing how small the boot was, I would have had to keep putting the back seats down to get all my racing equipment in every time I went racing.

A friend of mine who changes his car every couple of years, recently asked me if i'm thinking of changing my Roomster, the answer, no, its only done 65k and still running well.

I don't find it a problem changing things Manually, like the heater, to feet from demist, and looking in my mirrors to reverse, and how many drivers have still hit things when reversing, relying on those beeps to stop them, my mate.

The guy that does my MOT's bought one recently because he was so impressed with mine.  I don't know what other car I would get if I sold my Roomster.

I owned my Scout for five years before the return of a knee injury put an end to my days of driving a manual.  Sadly, this happened after the Roomster had ceased production - and with pre-owned Scout DSGs with pano roof as rare as hen's teeth, I bought a used SE.

I never really bonded with my SE.  It lacked the character and charm of my Scout and the front seats seemed less comfy.  It also STANK of fags - something the dealer had disguised with one of those scented bomb things.

After a year of ownership of my SE, I began to look for an ultra-low mileage Scout DSG with pano roof (not standard on Scout).  I continued my search until the Yeti (the only credible alternative) was about to cease production.  Anxious not to miss out for a second time, I gave up my search for a Scout and bagged a Yeti before it was too late.

I love my Yeti.  I consider it a worthy successor to the Roomster.  I can think of no other car in current production I would rather have.  But I also considered my Scout just a little more characterful and practical than my Yeti - and for those reasons, my Roomy Scout will remain the best car I have ever owned.
