Tow bar for New Octavia vRS

Featured Replies

hello all

i was just wondering if any one had 100% proof of a company that will fit a towbar to this car.

i have rang around and they all say, they only have listings for the other new octavias in the range but not the vrs, thay tell me it could foul the back bumper if it is deeper.

i am lookin for a detachable version as i dont want it stickin out the back all year round.

this is the decider on weather i buy the new octavia , i need the towbar and i really hope i can have one because this car is awsome , been out for a test drive twice, and also have chatted to revo for some power upgrades. I may get them a bit cheeper because i work for audi.

P.S this car is not only better than the A3 it drives, looks and is better value for money than the four ringed version. just my opinion.

fingers crossed .

I have done my research on this and at the moment there isnt one available either aftermarket or the factory. I had a crawl under one and the bumper comes with a cut out for a towbar.

I need a towbar too but if I get a vRS then a towbar will have to go on my wifes passat b6 instead !!

I had a tow bar fittet to my new OctyII vRS, delivered last thursday. It is detachable, and was fittet by de dealer, not by the factory. The factory must however prepare for the towbar (draw electrics and stuff). You cannot tell there's a tow bar, when it's not fittet (unless you stick your head under the car).

I live in Sweden, so I'm not sure if the same applies to you. But after all, it's the same car, so I don't se why it shouldn't work in the u.k.

Great!! The importers in Ireland dont even know that this exists!! What is the part number and price did you pay? Any information is really appreciated!!

But are you saying that the same towbar fits non RS and RS models? Surely the bumper would need cutting

I have the 2 litre diesel Sport with the deeper sport rear bumper, which I guess may be similar to the RS. Prior to purchase I was concerned that the Skoda towbar would not fit. Having been assured that it did I went along with the Skoda towbar which was fitted by the dealer.

Not cheap but it is totally invisible, you only know its there if you look under the bumper to see a very neat cut to the underside of the bumper. Very neat indeed, 13 pin Euro socket drops down when needed, tucks out of the way when not and the tow ball has its own storage compartment in the tools holder on top of the spare wheel. Very nice!

Might be worth checking to make sure its type approved in this country.

Fabia VRs cant be legally fitted with a tow bar although we had one supplied new by the dealer with the car.

In the Fabia brochure it specifically states that you cannot tow with the Fabia vRS. Frankly the dealer should be shot for supplying one. (I know of someone who tows with one too!)

As per the above. The Octavia Brochure gives specific towing weights against the vRS. If I subsequently find that it has not been type approved I will be asking Skoda UK to pay for the hire of a car to tow with for 20 times a year for the next 4 years (its a company car!)

Ok bought the RS and bought the detachable towbar. Does the bumper need trimming?

Has anyone got any picture of the genuine skoda towbar & electrics fitted to their vRS? Our local dealer says they have done 1 (for the finance manager) and will be fitting one to a demonstrator, but I haven't seen it yet.

I have seen the factory fit one on a vRS estate and there was a small bit of triming (about 3cm wide and about 5mm deep) but again I don't know if this is the same as the hatch. Does the 13pin socket fold up out of the way when not in use? Cant see the point of a detachable tow ball & leaving the electrics on display!

There is no way I am butchering either the bumper or electrics to fit the bar, & if push comes to shove I will sell SWMBO's fabia and buy a cheap "tow car" for the amount of miles she covers! (she hasn't heard me say that!)

I just dont want to take the risk of placing the "special order" for the parts and then deciding I am not going to fit them!
