EPC Warning Light - Limp Mode

Featured Replies

Hello,

My car went into limp mode without any warning during normal driving, I managed to get it to a garage who said the only fault that came up was with the Brake Light Switch and one of the brake light bulbs was out.

My concern is that it seems like an overreaction by the car to go into limp mode and restrict me 10mph, could there be another underlying issue that caused the limp mode or is this normal for Skoda?

Thanks.

Welcome.

Only 10 mph?   What engine / gearbox / age or car is it?

Hi,

It's a Fabia, 1.2, Manual 2009 09.

I had a fault light come up that also turned out to be the brake light switch AND a bulb, at the same time.  I don't think I got limp mode as I took it to the dealership quite promptly. I did, however, pay them around £120 or so, for a fault that is fairly well documented and costs around £25 to rectify.  Both the bulb and switch are cheap and fitting is ok if you can do those sorts of jobs. The biggest part of the bill was the diagnostics and fitting labour. If the salesman/ dealer had suggested looking at the rear brake lights whilst I was on the phone, I could have saved a lump! Now I know!

The limp mode is really just to protect the car from further damage so might just be the car reacting or in this case, over reacting, to a fault. Better to be safe, though!

I have the same car and the same symptoms, also im loosing throttle, and it has take to limp mode 3 time already. I have replace the throttle unit, the coils, but the cars still come with EPC stating the brake is faulty or something(thats what the garage man said)
