MISFIRING ???

Featured Replies

I'm not sure if I am giving this the correct term but my 1.6  Diesel sounds like it is.  Sitting ticking over  the engine is lumpy, like chug, chug  bump bump chug chug.  The rev counter fluctuates between the normal and over 1000 rpm. It's like the car is shaking and dancing all over the place . Then when on the move and driving faster the car is as smooth as it always has been.  Serviced regular, all the required things have been done like timing belts etc......any ideas folks?

Do you really trust these qualified mechanics you use.    What are they saying about how it is sounding running?

Remembering  your Octavia erratic fuel use i would be looking again at the Servicing & maintenance or your fuel sourcing.

Is it only you that fuels up and at the same place or do your drivers get the fuel?

I trust my mechanics 200% and some. It is one of my drivers who is complaining about the erratic running. The fuel use was sorted. The car is regularly serviced as it should be. THIS has nothing to do with FUEL....they do in fact fuel up at the same garage all the time

Best revisit the mechanics again.

I had the same problem recently, shaking in idle + more fuel and not doing regen. Now it stopped shaking, although it still feels rough , and it still uses more fuel.

The fuel consumption on this car is exceptionally good. This is a different one than had the fuel issue......

Anyone any suggestions please?

Has it had the 'cheat fix'?

MAF dirty?

EGR issues?

High mileage injector wear?

Could be anything really

Are there any fault codes which would help point you in the right direction?

Does it run smoothly when you are driving, like cruising at 50kph or 120kph?

Have you checked Under the engine cover for signs of leaking around the injectors?

No, the fix has not been and going by general opinion I'm glad I have not. I don't know about the MAF sensor. Or the EGR.  I have been warned it may well be injector trouble. It is booked in early next week for diagnostics which hopefully finds the problem.

Booked in next week where hopefully codes will be evident. The car runs perfectly  out on the open roads, it just seems to be round town or sitting idling that the problems are noticeable. There are no leaks visible

ive had the same problem on mine 2017 ,, from a cold start but since the temp outside as better theses days its stopped , ive had it in to skoda they couldnt find anything in the fuel , am just wondering if its a cold start sensor or something once it gets colder , mine was that bad that it was really undriveable spluttering and jerking all over the place, mines started at 16k it lasted up to 25k its had 3 services from new ,, but once its is warm it runs a dream so smooth all day ,, but now its stopped i think its a winter sensor thingy am still not sure , ill keep you posted
