YETILESS AFTER 4 HAPPY YEARS

Featured Replies

its gone its gone its gone. After 4 years of pretty much trouble free motoring and no hand in pocket for repairs apart from 3 tyres (one which was puncture) in over 26000 (a record for me) and annual service costs ive decided to let it go but what a great versatile motor and fun to drive ,wish i could have sold it private as it has never had the FIX it deserved a good owner but with the diesel scandle/panic hitting prices at the moment decided to get out and take a (no car) holiday.I had intended to keep the Yeti for 10_12 yrs and felt under normal circumstances it would have done this easy. This was my second Skoda but with dieselgate and vags attitude I'm out. This BRISKODA site and members has been most valuable and entertaining to me since owning skodas .Under normal circumstances i would have looked at the Karoq  but I'm no longer prepared to pay those prices and for me arona/t roc size too low and dark inside and both have inflexible option list.but any way for all the advice and banter and enjoy your yetis for as long as you can.

don't really know at the moment the yeti is a hard act to follow but i have  limited myself a bit (a lot) by ruling out diesel , VAG , anything French or german and set myself a sub £20.000 limit after discount and ruled out the existing Honda HRV down to its noisy gutless petrol engine,so I'm left with something Korean or Japanese at the moment so a lot of silver surfing but top of the list at the moment is the KIA soul sport, looks like a yeti (i think) plenty of the extras i want but some things i don't.

Dacia Duster?

Why not get a near new petrol Yeti, and put the problem off a few more years until there is some sensible alternatives again?

Nothing against the petrol yeti obviously a great quality car but dieselgate was enough for me so no more of my money to VAG who destroyed the diesel market throughout the world .

Wouldnt put me off. If it's a great car keep it and enjoy it, its a no brainer. I've a vrs octavia diesel not fixed and its a great car so iam keeping it, better the devil you know

No rsoul

A work colleague has had two Soul. In the evenings he delivers fast food (and makes a pretty penny from it too!) racking up big mileages. I have been amazed at the warranty claims performed by the local dealer over their life-spans given that is being used commercially. Its use emulates the work a taxi might undertake.

That venture pays enough to replace the cars and leave a tidy profit. Only expenses incurred (excluding fuel of course) have been tyres and insure it for business use - I have been quite amazed.

Although it pre-dates the Yeti , I find the interpretation by Skoda cleaner, more attractive and less 'chintzy' - but of course that is only an opinion.

Lawnmowerman,,,,,,quite agree with your observations but unfortunately the yeti has gone and the soul is still here,in fact I had one prior to my 2 Skoda’s ,I liked the design there was nothing wrong with the car just it had a cheap plastic feel to it and uninspiring engines and moving to a Skoda the improved quality was very apparent also that great 170bhp Diesel engine great power and economy  in both the Octavia and more importantly to me the Yeti.If the Kia’s we’re still of the same cheaper finish I doubt if I would consider them but they and Hyundai are producing cars of much better finish now ,perhaps on par wth with SOME vag cars (there’s some difference between a superb and say the Citigo and Ateca) and was surprised at the improved finish on both brands (same company) I suppose you have a list of requirements in mind when changing cars and the Koreans like the Japanese before them appear to be offering/producing  a very high spec with fewer options needed to be chosen unlike the vag options can’t have that unless you have/pay for these other 2,anyway these brands offer a large percentage of what I want/need for a price I’m willing to pay at the moment but never say never as they say.

I quite like the shape of the Kia Soul

Do you really want over 200 bhp??????????????????????????.???    I do!

I don't think I'd go for the sport, although its the only model to have the wild orange paint

Tried to test drive a Soul back in late 2013.

Made 2 appointments to test drive a diesel auto, each time the

dealer phoned the day before appointment to say, sorry can't get one.

Told dealer(politely) don't bother.

Walked into a Skoda dealer, nice diesel auto black Yeti sat there.

Told dealer straight off, I'll buy that.

4 odd years later, and 96000 miles, still going strong.

The 'FIX' is not done either.
