Hey everyone!

I've just bought my first ever Skoda - a 65 plate Octavia vRS estate (TSI).

Collected it last Friday.  Plenty to do to bring it up to scratch but I'm enjoying it so far, and will create a build thread in due course.

My previous car was a modified Audi S4 (with nearly 500bhp) that was featured in issue 22 of Performance Audi magazine.

Looking forward to getting stuck in on the forums!

Hi and welcome,

Quite a transformation. What prompted the change away from Audi or away from 500hp... ?

Cheers Colin!   Fantastic website and forum BTW.

Very good question!  I've got a 2 year old boy, and my second son is now on his way.  I bought the S4 before I became a dad but it was surprisingly practical so it became the family car.  With another one coming though we need more space, and the rear leg room on the S4 is terrible.  I'm very tall and Skodas have the best rear leg room (and boot capacity) in the sector, so I started out by looking at the Superb 280 Sportline.  Sadly they've not depreciated enough for my budget, but on visiting dealerships I was surprised by how much room the Octavia has so the vRS search was on.

It's a big step down from the Audi in terms of performance (and traction), but the interior and build quality of the Octy is spot on, and I know the 2.0 TSI has plenty of tuning potential so it should keep me happy for a while.  I love the way it looks and handles too, and I'll need far fewer visits to the local Shell station now :D

Thanks all!

I love getting my hands dirty, but as a dad finding time is the tricky bit!  Looking forward to getting stuck in though, and for sharing the progress with you guys.

A warm welcome.  Yes - know how you feel I came from a GT86 in order to be practical and/or sensible.
