Tyres for the vrs

Featured Replies

Gents. Need tyres. Mine are as bald as Kim Kardashians chuff. Looking at 205/40/ZR/17  84W set, but when I check tyres size for the vrs they say 205/40/R/17. Can I use the ZR ones. Cheers in advance.

You can.  The OEM Dunlop Sport Maxx were / are 205/40 R 17 ZR

Someone said that tyres over five years old will fail an MOT is that true?

Was that someone that sells tyres, by any chance?

They will fail a MOT if they have not the legal tread left, not because they are 5 years or even 10 years old.

?

Does your Mk2 Fabia vRS have 5 year old tyres on still?

I think that the 5 years thing refers only to the age of new unused tyres that big tyre sales places sell, ie after having them in stock and unsold for 5  years, they will get returned to the manufacturer or otherwise removed from their stock.  I came across that once when trying to buy a single tyre - and that model had stopped production 5 years prior to the time I was trying to locate one from a few tyre places, so that plan stopped there and then!

Heck knows. But looking on fleabay. Some budget tyres that have decent reviews at about 37.99 a pop. But someone said that the ZR code isn't used anymore and means they are old. And as such would fail an MOT. The ones on eBay are landsail.

OK.

Best £50 tyres i used on a Twincharger was TIGAR tyres bought and fitted at ATS Euromaster.

Perfect for the roads you are driving.  As good as £70-£120 or actually better because unlike many of those they were not wrecked in quick time.

Just had a look on ATS. They have some Avent potentums show C for wet grip and B for fuel economy.... And 47 quid each. Seems really good? They also have the tigar you mention. They're a wee bit more expensive and are C for wet grip and C for economy

TIGAR Tyres,

Manufactured in Serbia in a factory Michelin own.

Slagged by Serbians but IMO perfect for bad European roads such as found in the city of smiles and potholes

Ideal :) cheers George.

Just put a set of Uniroyal Rainsport 3's on mine - just over 70 quid per corner.
