New bumper protector fitted - vRS estate

Featured Replies

Hi folks

just fitted the carbon effect bumper protector this morning.

Easy to fit and seems a really snug fit.

Seems to sit nicely in place just missing the two inner reverse sensors.

I think the look of it is something that I’m going to have to get used to. A big dark patch where white paint used to be isn’t as pleasing on the eye but at least it serves a good purpose.

Looks good that.

Where did you get it from?

Looks neat... same question as tunedude, where'd you get it from? Cheers.

I got the link from a 245 Estate thread on here a few days ago. :)

I’m not sure I’m ok with how the lip sits so close to the sensors.

I may have been sent the wrong one.

Its too close for me. Cant stop looking at it.

I order their protector for the  vRS combi ‘IV’ model.

I didn’t know there was a mark 4 Octavia estate.

Mine is a 2018 245 so assumed that’s the one I needed

That is strange - here's my matt black Rearguards protector on a pre FL estate, I didn't think there would be any difference but mine certainly clears the sensors better:

It also tucks right under the tailgate, all the way to the seal.

Now that’s how it should look.

Mine doesn’t look right or am I being paranoid?

It does looks a bit strange.

My rearguard has a wider gap to the sensors.

the super skoda one has a much shallower edge that might suit better...

Have they sent you a non-VRS one by mistake? I understand the rear bumpers are different; would the sensors be higher on the VRS one due to the 15mm drop below normal suspension height?

I have a rearguard on a pre-FL VRS estate and the sensors are clear of it. Maybe the sensors are higher on the FL model?

It’s quite possible.

Either way this doesn’t look right.

Ive contacted them this morning and sent pics as maybe this is an issue they were not aware of.

i think ill I’ll be taking this off as the more I look at it the worse it looks. :crying:

The next dilemma is how to remove safety without any paint or lacquer damage.

I’m thinking hairdryer.

Couldn’t cope any longer. Removed it last night.

What a complete and utter bar steward it was to remove. Damp cloth, hair dryer and a lot of patience.

The company who supplied it were very helpful.

Apologised and requested I take it off break it in half, send them a snap and they’ll send out a new one for me.

Good customer service.:)

any damage?

Not that I can see.

The lacquer was my biggest concern. All appears intact. The residue left behind from the adhesive strips was very stubborn.

It was like some sort of 3M bonding tape.

Great for sticking but not so good for removing.

When you get the new one can you confirm the correct type / code please. Was thinking of getting one for mine and I can’t find any place in AU that do them so want to get it right first time :)
