Instrument cluster display gone

Featured Replies

Hi All, after many years of great service, my Skoda has one morning developed the above issue.

Authorised repair is out of question as they are quoting 750£ just for the cluster!? It seems the car is now in theft mode as the failed digi display has triggered the immobiliser.

I see several second hand clusters that may fit, but will a decent car electrician be able to unblock the immobiliser and re code to the new cluster. Or do I have it cmpletely wrong? Any info and advice is very much appreciated. The car is LHD btw. Many thanks!IMG_0806.jpg.b350608a7d6be3e1f5202205fdd63171.jpg

Have you checked fuse 39 in the dash side cover and fuse 6 in the engine bay

Hi, complete amature here so need to check, if I can find the no6 in engine bay. The way the display looks in the picture is how it is permanent, without the ignition key turned on. It just look like it melted internally.

Probably completely off as this is different to a display issue I had twice in my Fabia, but... Disconnect the battery for a wee while, then reconnect. My fault was that I cleaned the display with a non ahi-static cloth, whilst ignition was on. It seemed to blow the dash, causing much concern. Taking the above action re-set the display. I did it a second time, ages later. Again, panic until I then remembered the solution to MY problem. I think I am clutching at straws here but still, for very little effort with no real downside, worth a try. The worse that can happen is you will need to re-set the time!

Its on the rhs under the bonnet slide back the 2 clips wiggle  out the cover and fuses are from the top rhs 1 - 8 but position 1 will be empty but count it anyway  theres 12 a space then 3 to 8 make sure you take carefull note of where you take it from

I know it's an old issue, but yesterday I found my car in the same state—display completely malfunctioning and the immobilizer preventing me from driving it to a service. The fuses seem fine, and disconnecting/reconnecting the battery only clears the screen for a short time before it get in the same state again.

Do you remember how you fixed it?

Yes, never mind..  After some hours of unplugging the cluster and checking the fuses again, I decided to check the fuses in the engine section, after pressing each of them, one kinda clicked a little bit and after that the screen was back to life. I don't remember being happier this year :)
