New anti-roll bar and bushes at 18,000 miles ?

Featured Replies

At my first MOT service my dealer's noted on the service report that my Fabia's anti roll bar and bushes need replacing - though its not bad enough to fail the MOT.

I've noticed that there is a definite clunking coming from the offside when the car goes over uneven services.

As it's only done 18,000 miles and I'm not in the habit of demolishing speed humps or kerbstones, this seems pretty odd to me.

Is this a problem familiar to anyone else ?

Nick.

Happened on my mums ibiza which is driven v slow everywhere! 18k miles over 3 years and they needed replacing. They are on the way out on my ibiza at 8k!

Its pretty outrageous when you think about it. If I keep the car for a the usual 60-70k that probably means I'm into at least two more replacements of this type at

Mine's making odd noises at the passenger side, 33kish on the clock. Will get JBS to check it today, and getting PowerFlex ones fitted instead so hopefully that will sort it :)

Hi

Give customer services a call on 0845 7745745

Tell them the situation as you may get help in replacing these.

They can authorise a part payment with this.

It is a common fault and they know this.

Let them know about the low mileage and what you was told when the car had its last MOT

The parts are not expensive , but then I think it is the principle of it.

Take the time and you never know.

Many thanks for all your advice. Should the dealer go back on his original indication then I'll definitetely take-it up with Customer Services.

From what's been said. This sounds like a design fault. I presume there's been no recall yet and no mention in the despatch's of the Dept. of Chaos (aka DOT)?

Amazing though, in my youth I had a bog standard VW Golf Mark I (1981), which of course got thrashed round corners, and whilst it had other notable recurring problems, which were rarely acknowledged and never fixed by VW during its production life (Clutch & head gasket come to mind), there wasn't a peep from the suspension through 70k miles. So much for progress !

Mmm

I think in 1 hand I must agree.

But with the rules getting stricter and other models getting lighter and faster Skoda have to keep up with all of them.

I must say that Skoda do look in to the issues that they have and do strive to imporove them.

But I worked at a dealer in Marh 2000 when the Fabia was launced and they did have quite a few problems , but the majority of them was sorted with superceeded parts.

The anti roll bar bushes I do believe have not been superceeded yet but that does not mean that they are not looking in to them.

Tis worth giving the dealers a try then go on to customer care.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.
