Ant problem in a car. How to get rid of them?!

Featured Replies

Ok, not kidding!

So two weeks ago after washing my car I noticed some ants on my roof and doors.
Thought they felt from tree next to car wash parking lot. Noticed some on left rear door. In door seals and on doorstep.
Got rid of them. Few days saw few of them on roof and door. Same, I got rid of them...

Weather was rainy, but I booked car for polish and detailing. So i washed the car out. Thought no ants. But nope!

Today I picked up the car all happy. Only to later today when I went to the city, found out bunch of ants all over roof, doors, winsheald.

I removed them. On a way back to the car. Same and even more of them! Like 20 - 30... Saw one in side!

Thats what got me woried. I don't want them to geting in side my spedometar and die in there, in unreacheble space.

Has any on had this problems and knows how to solv them?

I asume in summer heat or winter cold will kill them. But I want to get rido of them.

FYI I never eat in my car.

Ant Killer as used in houses.

Water based, can be used on fabrics.  Best not on electrics.....

Almost all host in my Skoda Octavia Mkll cracked. I'm in Malaysia here. Could somebody have idea where to purchase online this item?

Use a vinegar and water solution to wipe down interior areas.  The ants will be scouting out the car looking for food.  They'll leave a pheromones for others to follow, the vinegar and water solution neutralises them.  Give the exterior and good clean and keep on top of it.

Also look for the killer which acts as food initially so they carry it back to the nest and then it should poison quite a lot of them.

Our new 2011 Mazda3 had a similar ant problem. I kept spraying them whenever I saw them on the roof and left bait stations on the car overnight, but they kept coming back. Eventually I followed their trail and they were going into in a chassis rail under the car. After giving the area a thorough spray with fly spray the problem was fixed. Hundreds of dead ants dropped out of the chassis.

Never had the problem in a car but Ant Stop bait stations did the job when we had them coming in the house.

So unplug the juke box, and do us all a favour-uh

:speechless: :blush

I say a line of pound coins, or even better, tenners for more immediate effect, or maybe bottles of ale should do the trick of getting the ant's out of your car :D

With the colours and the branding almost looks like you could use that as oriental flavouring or something ? But don't take me literally on that :D

You need to track them back to source and kill the nest. Hopefully (and most likely) this will be on the outside of the car, most likely a chassis rail.

Clearly you aren't going quick enough ! Give em a fright and a ride of their life :D

Get an ant trap. It is filled with poison with a delayed action.

It will probably take time before some of the ants takes it into the nest, but at the end it should. To remove ants the nest must be neutralized, as killing the workers isn't helpful. I wonder what do they eat there???

Try and find specialized bait where ants think its their food and take it to their nest.

Everyone in the nest eats it (worker + carer + baby ants) and after few days they are all dead.

Spinosad based bait stations are a revelation.

They are relatively non-toxic to mammals (so not fussed about the dogs finding them) and just sit there quietly doing their job.

Plenty of options on amazon.
