Skoda Superb Gearbox Rattle

Featured Replies

Does anybody have this kind of rattle in your Superb which is coming from the front part of the car? Experts are saying that rattle sound is coming from gearbox... Does anybody have solution for this?

I presume this isn't your car and have seen the video before.

I don't have a DSG but  I would expect some rattles on a surface like that . . . .

Does it make the same noise on the same surface when in neutral?

The car in grey color is mine. What did you mean by the same noise but in neutral?!

He meant... If you place the gearbox in Neutral (N) does the noise still happen, or does it only happen when you are actually moving?

I have a feeling (from listening to the video - as both vehicles exhibit the same noise), but i may be wrong, that it's the Clutch bouncing/slipping on the plates due to the slow speed of the driving - almost like riding the clutch in a manual.  Does it still happen when moving at normal road speed (30-50kph)?

The test you did was not a good one due to the noise from the Cobbled Street.

My Superb Mk3 (had it a month from new) doesn't make that noise on our roads (much smoother than those cobbles!)

As the bulletin in the video appears to be direct from Skoda, it seems like it could be a trait of the gearbox and nothing to be worried about.

The rattle noise is only when driving.

If the car is in out of gear and clutch disengaged (OK DSG a little more difficult) you limit how much of the gearbox is rotating when the car moves and eliminate some causes.

Did you ever fix this problem @Deerjohn as my car is making the same noise

the more i accelerate the louder it gets

@Stiggy

no, he swapped new Superb to used BMW

@Stiggy  Welcome.

Which engine does your car have which will let people know which DSG your car has?

How many miles has it done?
