Canton in L and K

Featured Replies

just getting to know my new Superb L and K estate that I've had for a couple of days now.

Working through a lot lot of stuff and now I'm on the Canton sound system

The car owner's manual, printed or electronic doesn't seem to have anything on the L and K Canton. So I'm just trawling through. pretty much ok but with a couple of queries over how much of its features can be accesssed easily eg. from the function selector on the steering wheel to access the instrument cluster

The only control page on the instrument cluster that looks close enough to doing that is the Audio page. But when selected, it only gets you to Radio, and its stations, nothing else. None of the presets, just the full list, and can't see a way of switching between FM DAB or AM

So that means that has to be done then from the infotainment screen, and drilling right down into Radio, to get what you want eg when changing from FM to DAB

Same when changing equaliser profiles, or balance, fade etc, all the things you'd take for granted on my old Jonda Accord for instance. Here. you have to navigate right into into the actual Canton settings as it's not on the intrument cluster

As said I'm new to this car so am hoping that I'm actually wrong and that I've missed the easy way of doing it.

Maybe there's a specific audio equipment manual that should have come with the car to go with the car owners manual

Plenty in the manual for the system as fitted to the L&K, but be aware it is actually called 'Columbus'. Canton is just the audio brand who help Skoda with their top systems so is only mentioned where audio options specific to Canton are concerned (surround settings etc.).

Don't think you can have 'mixed' presets (e.g. DAB & FM) but you can use the settings to change whether the wheel arrows cycle through presets or stations (which can be further be sorted by name, genre etc.).

It's only two taps to change from one frequency band to another though.

Thanks juux and  feelunch. Yes have changed station scroll to preset scroll now.

freelunch, thanks for the link.

The images of the Columbus and which shows physical controls each side of the infotainment screen, look different to what I have which is totally touch screen, as showing as well on this link (l&k) to a price list (non U.K.)

That's what was throwing me when I saw the same difference in the car owner's manual.

Maybe the newest Columbus/Canton is totally touch, with the manual behind the times.

Anyway, it's all intuitive enough to not need the manual most of the time, except to explain things like how do you view the values of the fixed on board equaliser profiles and what is the "Canton" profile, alongside the obvious Speech, Rock, Classical

I'd also wondered if the Canton could auto switch the equaliser profiles to match what the DAB program information says the content is.

Once I've mastered all this maybe I'll drive the thing!

Found the right image in the manual now, couldn't see for looking!

After 18 months, I'm still learning how to work my car...

I get a lot more information out of the pdf manuals on my computer than I do from the hard copies in my car. And, of course, this website is invaluable!
